Kelowna!

We just had one full weekend of what felt like summer. Plus 27 degree sunny weather filled with friends, outdoor courts and lake life. Oh! And we slipped in a basketball tournament at the same time. Carter’s FYB team went to Kelowna BC this weekend and we decided to all go as a family.

The 7 hour drive was our first road trip drive this year and it was beautiful…even through a dirty windshield.

We stayed at Accent Inn where their theme is ducks. We only had a little bit of time to kill before game 1! So while Carter hung out with his team before he game, we checked out the nearby City Park and played at an old school play ground. The dusty sandals from the playground rocks and non stop giddy laughter swung me right back into the years we used to go to the playgrounds everyday, I missed it. It was good for my soul.

Carter’s team won their first game on Friday night which was a great way to start the tournament. We did a team dinner until 10pm at Cactus Club and we were all gassed by the end of it.

Saturday morning started off with breakfast and basketball. They played great but ended up loosing their second game by 4 in overtime. It was a crappy loss but we fixed the spirits pretty quickly with some outdoor basketball, sun, lake, snack and friends. This was such a fun afternoon spent together.

Bentley, Penny and Tenny did a quick dip in the pool while the big guys chilled before their Saturday evening game.

They won their 3rd game by 60ish points. Glad we were on the winning end of that game. While the team hung out, walking around together, we went back to the pool for a late night dip with some friends. It was such a nice evening out, a warm breeze, good company, it was a good night.

Sunday morning we got up, packed up, had breakfast and checked out of the hotel. The boys didn’t play until 12:50pm and we had a little time to kill so we decided to go down to the marina to check it out. While we were on to pier, we ran into some friends. It was chill and gorgeous in the sun. The lake living life has such a chill vibe. It was the perfect morning.

Then, the final. Carter had a great game! Oh my gosh, I know I’m bias but he is SO FUN TO WATCH!! His defence is disruptive and fast, his offence is unassuming and catches them by surprise! I want to yell “THAT’S MY KID!! HE’S OURS!!” But I don’t, obviously, knowing he would be mortified if I ever did. But my goodness, he is fun to watch!

It was a great weekend (Im feeling extra grateful that it was hot and sunny out!) spent as a family in beautiful Kelowna. Minus sleeping in a hotel.. these weekend getaways harvest so many beautiful memories and Im so grateful for them.
