Spring Break 1.0
Last week Carter was on spring break. Just him. To be honest, I was really wishing it was everyone all together. I had a hard time wrapping my mind around separate spring breaks for our kids. I wish that I could have seen how nieve of a thought that was because Spring Break with just Carter was such a blessing. I got so much one on one time with him and as he gets older that time is fewer and far in between. I loved every moment of his company. We stayed busy, spent lots of time together and he spent tons of time with friends too. It went so fast and next year, Ill go into it with a little more excitement for sure.
So many of his friends were on vacation during spring break except his best friend, Nixon. So those two hung out every day together. But even Nix was gone for the first day so I took Carter on an unplanned, impromptu date and it was so fun.
We kicked off Spring Break at the arcade followed by his favourite lunch spot, The Burger Priest. I had such a fun day with him. We were present and chatted about all sorts of things. He kicked my butt at every arcade game except my ONE win in a cartoon helicopter game. haha. With our tokens at the end we got little trinkets and a plastic friendship bracelet. Ive told him I put it in his backpack and he better leave it there beside the little Jesus I gave him... He's a good sport haha

We did an orthodontic appointment and regular errands. It was just regular things but if felt like the best life. We did $1.49 days at our local Save-On-Foods... for some reason Carter had it in his head that dollar forty nine days would be amazing and we could get so many things.. and despite me trying to explain how its not really worth it, he was excited so we did it. We made it into a game, we went in but could ONLY buy it if it was exactly listed as $1.49. We left with a handful of Peace Teas and a small box of popcorn. We laughed a lot, worth it all.
Carter hung out with friends, basketball and the church gym for basketball multiple times. We went over to friends houses and had friends here. It was a week filled with random plans each day.. including dunking on me.. more than once..
Him and Nixon's buddy, Toby, was turning 16 over the break but since he goes to a different school he wasn't on spring break at the same time as them. I picked up Nixon and drove around to each store for Carter and him to get Toby a sweet 16 birthday gift. This spite "cake" was just an idea but the boys nailed it! They put so much effort into it, it was awesome. They nailed it and Toby loved it. Happy sweet 16 Toby!
The week had most evening sports off so our evenings were slow. Watching basketball, baseball and hockey. I could make actual well rounded meals and we could sit around the table together. I cherished every minute of that.
Brian and I celebrated 22 years of "dating" with a flames game and the berry candies we used to buy when we were young. I wrote a little card to "my boyfriend" complete with a spritz of my perfume and lipstick kiss lips on the card. Felt VERY high school Christina. lol. We don't actually celebrate this anniversary but its fun to remember because this was the day, 22 years ago, that my life was changed for the better for the rest of my life. I will always adore March 26th.
And on the last day of spring break, Alli came over Brin and Nix and our three big kids painted bird houses. We had music on and the big kids were so into it. It made all my crafty-mom dream comes true that they're not too big to craft. I can't wait to put Carter's yellow and blue bird house in our backyard when all this silly snow melts!
Carter, I had so much fun with you last week. I hope you know how loved you are and how much I love spending time with you. I don't love that you're back at school this week while your siblings are enjoying their spring break BUT I do love that you're getting closer and closer to summer break! Every day is one day closer. Love you bud. So so much!
