Fall break

This fall break felt stranger than usual. We just had almost a month off for the strike, then went back to school for one minute and then the scheduled fall break here BUT it was always welcomed and always will be. This fall has been truly incredible for weather. Warmer than usual and we have yet to see much snow at all which is sooo nice when you're constantly driving and carpooling around! The fall colours were so pretty and the last leaf pick up of the year was actually so lovely. I found the prettiest colours and a true fall rainbow.

We got the kids school pictures back right before the break too. I love each of their school photos this year. Penny LOVES her photo so much. She says its her favourite photo to date, I adore her!

This fall break felt less like a break. We still had sports and so so many appointments. Carter had rehab at the childrens hospital and ortho to tighten his braces. Bentley also ended up having 3 ortho appointments and got braces put on which wasn't the original plan but they had a cancellation and we had time so we made it work. I had photos and edited and was gearing up for my annual christmas minis. Really the week was stuffed with so much and the break this year felt more exhausting than usual.

The weekend kicked off with a basketball tournament for Carter's Fall FYB team. We are feeling so lucky to have had this team this fall before school tryouts. Each kid on this team is kind and funny and works so hard and its been amazing being surrounded but such great kids and parents. They ended their weekend with a championship win and we are so proud of them!

Carter has had a hard time recentley playing and was trying to do as much as he can without reinjuring himself but has had this horrible blister on the bottom of his foot. 2.5 weeks after it happened, its finally starting to close. This has been a really big trial for him. Poor guy!

Monday was just appointments! Carter at the children's for rehab and physio and both the boys had an ortho appointment but separate times which just made the day feel extra long but we survived it!

Tuesday was fun. We did the church gym, Carter had football practice but sat out on account of his foot and then we went to a ranglers hockey game with friends! It was a full day and fun! Jon & Allison were in California for a little birthday trip so we kept their kids busy, served them sub-par tacos and tried to do fun activities with them to fill time while their parents were away and we loved every single second of it!

Wednesday after everyone finished practises we went and picked up the Walker kids and took them with us to chase the Northern Lights. They had never seen them before. It was awesome! The clouds were really trying to kill the vibe but we were able to see them for a short period of time. It was cool experiencing it with all 8 kids together.

Thursday was another full day! Carter went back to school and Bentley got braces. He has been such a good sport about it! We were originally planning to get them on closer to the end of January but they had a cancellation so we took it. We agreed that the faster they get put on, the faster they get taken off. Luckily, Bentley's jaw is in perfect condition so its a simple fix and he should only need them for 12 months.

It was a successful day minus spending 10K in braces in the last 4 months. Hopefully Penny doesn't need them any time soon so we can have a minute to breath!

On Thursday night, Carter's football team played in the semi Final game and won 37-7! This game is taking us to the Division 1 City Finals TOMORROW and we're super excited about the game and about putting football behind us for now ;)

This week everyone is back to school but the days are so long this time. Carter has football and basketball tryouts and is out of the house and at school for 12-15 hours every day until Friday. Bentley is finishing volleyball finals and also in basketball tryouts and also out of the house 8-10 hours every day until Friday. Penny has extra basketball practices because of course that would be planned during this already crazy week and my stress level for high school basketball tryouts might put me in the grave. Someone send help... actually just send a gluten free dinner my way ... haha

Its just non stop praying and trying to let God work out the details of teams for both the boys and their evals this week but also spirraling on my own wishing I could take the wheel and steer it right where both boys hope to be. Wishing I could do more but hopeful that it will all work out. TBD.

By the end of the week, we will know if Carter gets to play high school basketball and takes home gold in Div 1 city finals for football. If Bentley will go to finals for volleyball and if he will get to play Sr basketball or Jr. Basketball. I need a hot bath and maybe to be medicated to get through this week lol

All kidding aside, the only way to find out the results of everything is to get through it so, onward and upward!
