Reed Camping 2025

I don't know why this camping trip in particular made all my dread of camping bubble over the surface of my soul. I say it every year, its not that I dislike everything about camping. I really just HATE sleeping in a tent and really its because I just don't sleep. This year, I wasn't cold or uncomfortable, and still only half slept for 2 hours each night. Its like paying to be overtired, overstimulated and extra dirty. Not super convincing to me haha. There's not many people I would go camping for but my Reed family definitely makes the cut.

This past weekend, we went camping all together. It was a little choppy this time. Jarren was gone for work and Brian had to leave halfway through for a work event that he couldn't miss and we missed them a lot!

We stayed at Lakeview Campground in Gull Lake. It was farther than usual BUT the group campsite was amazing! Especially for our Kobe and all the little little cousins. The area was so big that we could see little cousins at all times without being worried that they'd wondered off to another campsite.

Brian and I got to the campsite Friday evening around 7pm. We stopped for free slurpees on our way out (7-11 day!).  Set up our tent and waited for the other families to arrive so we could help get them set up too.

Mom and Dad Reed made it there a couple of hours before everyone else and started setting up all their tent, the kitchen space and all the amazing activities and fun that they packed with them. There was so much fun for every single grandkid no matter what they wanted to do!

Saturday morning, Brian and I were in charge of breakfast. We made Egg McMuffins and a fruit salad with a fruit dip. It was a hit.

We spent all of Saturday morning hanging out, playing games, laughing and sitting in awe at every single little kid and all the cute things the were saying and doing. I love that all these cousins get along so well. Regardless of any age gap, they hang out and play and love on each other. It really is the sweetest sight to see.

Saturday afternoon was spent at Gull Lake. The water was so shallow so far into the lake which really actually made it more stressful because the kids would be soooo far away but the water was so shallow.. it was weird but fun too. Brian and Bentley tried to fish but it was too shallow for too long and unsuccessful, but pretty!

Brian also needed to head back to Calgary for his work event. I knew I was gonna miss him like crazy and really tried to convince him not to leave like the true camping hero I am haha.. it didn't work and he left.

We enjoyed the lake, all got sunburnt and headed back to camp when everyone was starving.

The lake was, for sure, a highlight of the weekend. The rest of the evening was filled with treats, crafts, campfires, games and food! We partied until the sun went down. It really was so much fun.

And just like that, in 3 billlion blinks of an eye over night while not sleeping, we checked "cousin camp" off our summer bucket list. We're so grateful for our whole entire Reed Family. We really are so blessed.
