Thankful
This thanksgiving season was the season for sickness. We spent time with our family but were missing some of our favourite cousins at both our thanksgiving dinners this year. We had thanksgiving dinner with the Reeds one week earlier because of schedules and it was so fun to be together but we were missing Marsden and Evie at the dinner. Darn it!
Of course Mom Reed made the yummiest dinner and was so thoughtful with all the gluten allergies this year. She really has such a thoughtful mind and constantly is thinking of others. I love her so much for that and admire this about her.
I am thankful for our Reed family!
Yesterday we had thanksgiving dinner with my side of the family but we were missing all of Amanda's family. My heart was so sad. We look forward to having them over so much. They were sick so it was the right thing, poor kids, but I missed their family so much.
My mom also always is mindful of allergies. Making everything gluten free so no one has to worry about what they can and cannot have and to be honest, she has mastered the GF stuffing and gravy. Everyone loves it and you honestly cannot even tell! Love you so much Mom. We love our Gardiner side of the family and are so grateful for them!
My niece, Bella, and I did a thing though. Now, we are bonded for life AND she knows what a giant baby I am. This summer we were talking about how a double piercing would be so cute. She wanted one so badly. I expressed how scared I was. She asked her Dad (my brother) if she could and he said "If auntie Christina takes you, sure!" .. I knew I needed to put on my brave face and make this happen for her but HOLY CRAP I was an 11/10 panicking. We had the appointment booked for noon on Thanksgiving Monday. Bella was ALL excitement.. I on the other hand.. was a total disaster...
We got there and honestly it didn't help. Signing the consent forms almost made me puke.
I love how excited and confident she was though because we definitely weren't backing out. I demanded I go first or Id likely chicken out. She was cool as a cucumber watching the horror story unfold. I took deep breaths and then in it went. It was actually OK! Really not as bad as I thought. However, someone upstairs, also getting a piercing, fainted at the exact moment she put my first one in and it shook the entire wooden house and made us all jump a little "Well, that was terrible timing" - Bella .. HAHAHA it really was.
Luckily I didn't walk out a pirate and was able to be brave enough to get both ears done. Bella was a little champion and got it done without being scared or freaked out or anything... just did it! She's amazing!
Thanksgiving weekend was done in a flash and I can't believe I forgot to take a pic of my own little crew. But nonetheless, they are my favourite crew. I can't even picture life without Brian, Carter, Bentley and Penny. They truly are who I am most grateful for in my life. Whenever someone asks what I am most thankful for during thanksgiving I will always answer with the most cliche answer of "my husband and children" because that will always be the most accurate answer.
Just feeling grateful for our families and friends and everything that makes life worth living every day. Despite the dumpster fire of 2024.. we really do have so much to be grateful for.
