Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry...

Renovations are no joke! It so quickly becomes a snowball effect. "If we paint the walls.. we're gonna need to paint the trim.. if we go to the effort of that, we should fill the holes in the walls first... but also replace the basboards.. but also add pot lights and maybe new light fixtures...." Oh wow! It feels never ending. We are doing our best to get the best bang for our buck so although we were only given the amount from insurance to fix the impacted problem, we are doing so mcuh of the work ourselves to allow that money to stretch into other things like paint and pot lights etc.

May long weekend was spent without breaks, hours upon hours on house renovations. We are exhausted but finally are starting to see things coming together.

The drywall has been fixed up (what a nightmare that was... The guy who came was 3 hours late because he literally ran over a kid on his way over, was fuming with anger and made me feel sooo uncomfortable. He went on and on about how it was not his fault, that the kid was an idiot etc etc.. I just sat there silently praying for that poor child and his family. I could not imagine that shock and pain from that experience. This guy needed a few prayers too. I was glad when after 4 days he finally finished up)
I did spend the 5th day of drywall finishing it mmyself.. the guy told me "even a 5 year old could do it" which was rude and his expectation of us finishing his job when we were paying him seemed unreasonable but I truly just wanted him to get out of our home and never come back so I did my best to finish the job.

Trying to do things in the wright order was a whole other brain management thing! Brian and I put in pot lights together (actually so much fun to do this with him, we laughed .. a lot and cheered eachother on with this task).

Brian definitely had the worst job of cutting out the holes...hahha
It took us almost two hours to thread the first hole through 4 walls in the roof BUT then it was actually quick and easy after that and it is SOOO nice to have actually lighting in our living room and not just ONE tiny old pot light pointing to the mantel. This was for sure a "why didn't we do this sooner" moment!
It took me nearly a week to finish paiting the entire main level but I did it! Two coats on everything. I painted all the trim and chair rail, walls, and even the stair case!
We even fancy'd up the island by making shadow boxes on it and I LOVEEEE IT! It looks so good, maybe my favourite part so far!
The long weekend house state was just about unbearable. I felt totally suffocated in the mess of renovations and couldn't wait to put, even a fraction, of it back together.

LITERALLY EVERYTHING WAS TORN APART!
We had THE BEST helpers!
Brian and I took 1,850 pounds to the dump. All the flooring as been removed including the 2000 staples needing to be hand pulled from every since of the subfloor. Taking out the tile was way more intimidating than it needed to be and Brian and I were a great team. I love this man so much and the fact that we can work so hard, get shiz done and still be smiling and cuddling up at the end of the night is a true testiment to our friendship and teamwork. We did it babe!
We still need to do the main floor bathroom. It's still just bare walls needing a little more mud and sanding. We've ordered samples of wall paper and are waiting for it to arrive before we decide what colour to paint the walls. We're getting so close and I am so so excited to have the cleanest main floor on the block, take a deep breath and apprecite all our bodies and minds let us accomplish in the place we call our refuge. Cannot wait to enjoy the hard work. We're waiting for the floor to arrive and then we will finish with baseboads ourselves.

Iv'e had lots of little set-backs and "don't cry, don't cry, don't cry" moments but we're so close I can almost see it!
