Hippity-hop!
Easter 2024 brought SO many little Easter adventures. It came quick but we soaked in as much easter goodness as possible!
We brought back the Easter Holy week to do with our kids the week leading up to Easter and I am so glad we did. It was nice to take 5 minutes each day to talk about the real reason for the Easter season, to remember our Saviour and the sacrfice he made for each and every one of us.
On Good Friday we did Easter lunch with the Reed side of the family. Mom Reed always does such a great job at hosting her big family. She thinks of literally everything and everyone and we are so grateful for her!
We had the yummiest ham and salads and poutine (which was such a treat!). I was so so full. She even did the cutest little easter craft/treat with donuts. She had the kids each write down the scripture and then decorate the plate with grass and the open tomb to represent the resurection of Jesus Christ. It was adorable!!
She hosted the annual grandkid Easter Egg Hunt (A grandkid fav!) and it was so fun, hilarious and entertaining to watch!
We are so so grateful for our Reed Family. Mom and Dad Reed always make everyone feel included and special and show so much Christlike love. It was such a fun afternoon spent together!
On Saturday, we celebrated Easter with my side of the family. My Mom always pours her heart out into her table when she hosts family. Always paying attention to details and making it special for everyone around.
She also always has little bowls of milk chocolate hidden around and if I find them.. I usually eat enough of them that she needs to restalk it and can always tell who was there ;) It was so fun to see everyone. We did so much. Amanda and I painted Penny and Paisley's nails. Played endless dice games over and over again and enjoyed evey moment of eachothers company. Amanda even did themost fun Easter Egg game where grandkids worked as a team and each left with a big treat prize! Like, how awesome is that.
Thank you so much to my Mom & Dad for making such a special Easter dinner. They really thought of everyone. We are so grateful for our Gardiner family. How lucky are we!
Easter Sunday was lovely. It was spent as a family. We had church at 9am, only 1 hour, and then came home to spend it together.
The Easter Bunny had obviously come and we were so excited to get the challenges started!
So, the moment we got home from church.. we started!
The kids ran from clue to clue together collecting their hidden eggs. The final clue was to pop all the balloons, unscamble the message and find the treat!
Of course, Brian and I got them a little Easter gift too. Sweet Penny has been asking to match me for quite some time and I was starting to get worried that I would miss my opportunity of our daughter wanting to match with her mama so this was the moment! I bought us matching sweat suits (our Spring Break uniforms you could say lol).
Initially she opened it and was "meh" about it.. but as she was opening it, I ran upstairs and changed into mine and when I came around the corner...
I will live forever for that cute moment and her expression and her jump into my arms with happiness! Time to start finding more matching outfits until she eventually refuses to match with her mama!
For the boys, they have been asking for mini sticks since Christmas. Easter was the perfect time for them! We got them the best kinds and they (and Brian!) have been living it up in the living room since they opened them!
We are so lucky to be surrounded by amazing family and friends and must document about our incredible neighbour too. Our neighbour, Scott, would do anything for our family. He is honestly the best! He is helpful and kind and always saying hi. On Easter, he texted us saying "I just saw a BIG Easter bunny at your front door"! Low and behold... look what we found ...
We don't know what we ever did to deserve him but we hope he lives there forever because we could never find another neighbour as good as him!
The rest of the weekend was spent eating chocolates (wayyyyyy too many chocolates!), crafting, dying Easter Eggs, playing games and hanging out as a family and that is time I will forever cherish!
It really was such a beautiful Easter Season. Remembering the Saviour is key and everything else just fell into place. Happy Easter 2024.
