BADminton
Phewf! Badminton is one of the shorest seasons for school sports and yet this year it seemed to go at a snails pace! Carter commited to the Gr. 8 badminton team but then decided after that he didn't want to go to practices or games or really any of it. Of course, we live by and teach our kids that when you've made a commitment, you don't just quit.. so he had no choice but to stick it out but MAN!
Every early morning practise, every after school practice and every game was difficult to get him to. So many times I wanted to throw in the towel. Today was especially bad. He just .. wasn't into it, like.. at all! We had a ferm talking and got him to his final divisionals today and by the end of the 4 games he was in way better spirits but next year I hope we remember that its OK that badminton is not our thing and we don't have to do it as an extra sport.
Now, truth be told.. it is sometimes SO SO HARD to do things we are just not wanting to do so as much as there was expectations to show up, I am glad Carter DID actually show up, even when it was hard. This afternoon he made the best of it.
He ended his badminton season in mixed doubles with his great friend, Rachel. They had fun and that's all that matters.
These four were the only four that went together for mixed doubles. All their other friends were at a different school so it really could have been such a bummer (it was for all of them at first) but they ended up having a great time together and we finished way faster because there weren't as many kids! Win/Win!
Way to go dragons. Please don't let there be a grade 9 badminton season..
