A little bit of Gold
Well, city final are done and that puts an end to our community basketball season. It has been such a fun season with highs and lows. All three of our kids battled so hard this last weekend. Penny's game was first. We made our way to the other end of the city through the craziest snowstorm all year. These cute girls played their little hearts out and somehow came out and won GOLD! Everyone was so happy! We were the underdogs and started at a team 4 playing against a team 1. We had a way shorter bench and every single shift needed to be played with full intensity and fire and they did just that!
Congrats to these u11 girls on your very first gold in your very first season! We are so so proud of you!!
We were missing Coach Brett and his daughter Clara this past weekend but we made sure to snap a full team picture a week ago. We are so grateful for Coach Brett & Coach Jess and their dedication and vulunteer hours for these girls. They have been THE BEST coaches for Penny!
Penny said that the whole season was worth it for that gold medal. She has completely changed her opinion of basketball throughout this season. She started it with us kinda forcing her to do one full season of real basketball with the understanding that if she hated it, she wouldn't have to do it again. She says she's so happy for doing it because she now LOVES basketball and can't wait to play spring club ball. She found another passion on the court and we love that for her!
Carter's played next. This team has been a trickier team this season. It took longer for them to gel and trust each other, lots of bigger ego's in U15 and so so many random injuries that pulled so many kids off the bench for even a month or two at a time. However, with all the adversity that this team faced, they continued to show up and didn't give up. They played for bronze in city finals and lost in a super competeive game. Emotions were high and we weren't able to snap a team pictrue but regardless, we are so so proud of Carter and his basketball development over this past season. He has given it his all every single time and it shows! Way to go Carter!
Brian and Andrew Davidson coached Carter's team and we are so grateful for them. So so many hours spent trying to help this team. They are incredible coaches and work so good together.. even taking turns on their multiple technicals over the season over the passion for the game.
Bentley played last. This little team came out ON FIRE!!!!! Like, the game of the season for them! So much passion and intensity. They were also playing for bronze and in the most unfortunate reffing situation they lost the bronze medal in overtime by 1 bucket. It was such a tough loss but these guys should stand tall because they were AMAZING! We will really miss this team. They instantly gelled as a team and became close friends pretty quickly. It was such a fun season to watch.
Brian was the head coach of Bentley's team and coach cory assisted. Bentley and Carter both hoped that Brian would be asked to coach their club ball teams. That is the biggest compliment a Dad could get..."Dad, can you coach my club ball team? Please can you be my coach". It melted us. I love you Brian, thank you for all you do for our kids. you are the best of the best!
It feels crazy that this season is over. It went so fast. Watching our kids courtside doing what they love to do is the literal best. So, heres to an awesome season of community ball! Already looking forward to next fall!
