Party Time!
Oh my goodness, one last birthday party was had for the year and it couldn't have gone better! Seriously, I am so impressed by Carter's friends and who he chooses to surround himself with. Each and every one of his friends is TOP SHELF! They are all so kind, helpful, fun.. the list goes on and on and I am just so thankful for each of them! We hosted Carter's 13th birthday party last night and it was an absolute BLAST! We sent out invitations a couple of weeks ago.
It was awesome that all 11 of the kids we invited were able to come. We really did have such a great afternoon/evening. I got everything set up while they were at school. Carter didn't have a particular theme in mind, he just told me he loves blue and pink. So, I just rolled with that.
I set up the basement with music, games and balloons. We had a "pop-shop" and a candy bar!
Carter was very particular about his birthday cake. He requested a (gluten free) Dairy Queen Ice Cream Cake with the ENTIRE top covered in icing! I heard that only some DQ's will do this while others just totally refuse. I was lucky enough to find one that would do it on my first try! Yay!
Carter requested a baked taco bar for dinner and it was such a hit! Feeding 12 teenagers is no joke and I literally loved every minute of it! What a fun night to have them all over eating a homecooked meal instead of take out.
Baylor and Bentley were our Pop-Shop workers and did great! It was so nice to have their help with that. Thanks boys!!
Everyone sang our guy Happy birthday and the cake did not dissapoint!
And then ... gifts... holy moly. Carter was SPOILED! Like, so spoiled. Look at how happy they are. I wish I could have got everyone reactions because our whole living room was FILLED with laughter and banter and it was just the best!!
Carter got multiple hoodies and a T-shirt, gift cards, cash, funny toys and the sweetest paper picture chain ever made loaded with photos of him and all his friends. One of the gifts he got was a glow in the dark basketball so naturally they had to run outside and give it a try! It is AMAZING! Like, so much fun!!
We spent the last two hours of the party at Launchpad Golf. It was so much fun! This place is so cool. We had never been but Carter had been to it once for a birthday party. These teens played for two hours non stop. I think they could have hung out all night. They're the best.
Brian and I hung out at the bar inside while they did their thing but I did sneak over to make sure all was well and while I was there Carter said "Mom! Look at my form!" .. and then swung at the golf ball like this...
Clearly a baseball player and not a golfer hahahaha he literally swung that club just like he would a baseball bat.. just a little lower, it was so funny and so awesome. Way to own it bud!
We got home just after 10pm all on a high of how much fun we had just had. I am so greatful that Carter's party was as successful as it was. He was so happy and so were we. We are just in awe at this amazing group of friends. What a fun night celebrating our guy. I cannot believe on Monday he will officially be a teenager! He is one of the best around!! Love you, Buddy!
