Cousin Camp 2023
Everyone knows I am not a camper BUT I could never skip cousin camp! Our kids LOOOVVVEEEE this yearly camping tradition with all of our family. Mom and Dad Reed are the king and queen of camping and pulling everything together. They have EVERYTHING you may have forgotten and literally think of every possible scenario. We are so wildly grateful for them!!
We went camping all together this past weekend. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! The night wasn't even that cold, such a bonus! Dad Reed let us borrow his big tent and a couple of cots. We were set! Our kids just ran rampage through the forest for two days, dirty socks and scraped up knees. On their bikes and doing too many drifts to count.
These cousins are so much fun. We all got to camp around dinner time on Friday. Ate yummy chilli baked potatoes (thanks Meghan and Steven!) and then it was straight to playing!
We spent the sunset hour and night under the stars, with a campfire and classic s'mores. Of course, flashlights and glow sticks were a must!
Saturday morning started early. We were in charge of breakfast. We prepaired Egg McMuffins. We spent Saturday exploring. We went to the campground playgound where so many little tears were shed from falling but it was still fun.
We spent a small amount of time at the prettiest river that was just at the bottom of our Campground until a thunstorm rolled in and cut things short but it was so fun while it lasted.
Once the rain pasted and lunch was done (classic hot dogs and salad.. Thanks Lena & Jarren!) all the cousins got into groups of 4 and played an animal forest game. How cute are their group names and sign!!
We played monkeys Vs. Gorillas, ran around the campsite, played hard in the hammocks and snacked on everything possible. It was such a great day!
Closer to dinner time on Saturday, Brian got sick. We're not sure if it was something he ate or if it was the start of a stomach bug but he was not doing great so after the campfire on Saturday night we packed up and went home. Really, we didn't missm much since everyone else was checking out the next day but it was unexpected and a little deflating to have to leave. We know we made the right choice because the night was inturrupted a few times with feeling sick and we were definitely grateful to be at home for that.
We made so many memories that we will cherish and our kids are already counting down the days until the next Cousin Camp! So although Im not a huge camper.. these are the people Id absoluetly sleep in a tent for! Another year of Cousin Camp in the books!
