Lucky me
St. Patricks day came and went so fast this year. I tried to have all my ducks in a row but man it's hard to keep the flame lit with a little bit older kids. Penny is still wildly into it. Both the boys are into.... the treats....
Penny worked on our Leprechaun trap. Bentley tried to help her but she was kinda in a "mood" and only was content with Brian helping her. She's currently in a little phase of moods and glass half empty kind of style but we're working on it and so is she.
Penny was sure that by using a metal bucket, the sneaky, cheeky Leprechaun would be trapped and not be able to escape this year! We set it up the night before with icing sugar sprinkeled everywhere around it so they could see if there were any footprints. And then morning came... and that darn leprechaun out smarted us again! The metal bucket did not stop him! He just somehow drilled a hole right through it. And trashed the place on his way out. Thanks alot. We made cloud rainbow pancakes for breakfast and since we had a PD day and no school, no one was rushing out the door. And just because we have always celebrating in some kind of fashion this particular "holiday", we, of course, got them some kind of rainbow, green treat! The day was a little all over the place. Penny set up a couple of little St. Patricks day games upstairs for the boys and I. We had to see who could blow the biggest balloon (Carter won), ask the magic 8 ball two questions each and go on a scavenger hunt. She was so creative and sweet and her brothers were great sports about it! Carter went and hung out with friends for the afternoon and into the evening. How are we at this phase of life already?! And the rest of us went to Sawyer's play that she had been working on for months and months! Way to go, girl! This St. Patricks day was unique. Its too much for some and not enough for others. Kind of a weird in-between phase but I don't need a holiday to remind me how lucky we are. This is a beautiful phase of life too.
