Gap Lake
Bentley has been begging us to go skating at Gap Lake, all winter. I knew we just had to make it happen before the spring. The only thing was that only half of us had skates so it wasn't just finding a time that worked that was hard but also making it out to buy skates.
This past Saturday, we finally made it happen for our boy.
Both boys had basketball games on Saturday first thing in the morning. So after that, we came home, ate lunch and headed right to Canadian Tire to fill in the gap of Carter and I having no skates and then drove right out to Gap Lake.
The weather was beautiful. So sunny and warm, the roads were dry and the drive was relaxing. Bentley, this idea was amazing and I hope we can do it again and again.
We nearly had the whole lake to ourselves. The water was aqua blue and the cracks in the ice were mesmerizing. We could see frozen air bubbles feet below the surface and the frozen ripples in the water kept us on the look out. We fell lots, laughed A TON and enjoyed every single second of skating on Gap Lake.
Kobe also loved every moment of this adventure. Running at FULL speed on the ice in his boots. It was so funny to watch, he was such a fast adventurous pup and it was fun to bring him.
I am so grateful for Bentley and his persistence in making sure this family activity happened. I could have stayed there for hours and hours more.
The only crazy thing though, but also something that maybe made it extra dangerous but also extra fun was the wind! The wind when we got there was CRAZY! The gusts would make you loose your balance so much but also, if you stood on your skates with your back to the wind, it would push you clear accross the lake at full speed. We had so much fun with this. Doing it over and over again. Arms out wide, feeling like you were a bird (and praying you didn't catch an edge!)
It really was such a dreamy afternoon skating as a family. Can't wait to go again!
