This little week.
I love the week between Christmas and New Years. The week we clean up and put away all the clutter that brought us so much Christmas Magic. The week that we adventure and that Brian is home every day. I love just being the 5 of us and doing whatever we want! We stay up late, eat too many treats and enjoy every secind that this little week has to offer.
I truly also look forward to a New Year. New beginnings and the calm that January brings to us. This week has been full of adventures but didn't start off the way we had invisioned.
On Boxing Day, Brian and I made the very best team and we cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. We packed up all the Christmas, drove all the extra cardboard to the recycling bins and enjoyed the clean calm of our home. It was a great day.
However, tuesday morning, despite the plans we had made, came with a vengence! Poor Bentley and I were SO SICK! Like the flu that hits so hard that if you move, you puke. That one. The only good thing about it was that we had eachother and Brian was home to help with everyone! He was the biggest blessing. Bentley was my sidekick the whole day. We stayed in bed and ran sat in the bathroom all day long. My poor guy had it rough.
I seriously am SO grateful for Brian, he cleaned up vomit, got us everything we needed and entertained Penny all day while making sure Carter was happy and busy. I don't know what I would have done without him on this particular day.
By Wednesday, Bentley and I were really on the mend. We were feeling "all better" but just in recovery mode after not eating and barfing up our entire body weight. We really wanted to take advantage of Brian being home this week so we waisted no time. We headed outo to Canmore as a family and it was exactly what we all needed. That fresh mountain air gets us everytime.
We went to our favourite pool, Evelvation Place, and spent a couple of hours swimming, playing and having so much fun the five of us. We finished off the perfect afternoon/evening waiting way too long at our favourite pizza joint! It is always worth the wait.
Thursday was yet another adventure! We had tickets to the Rec Room, an indoor arcade, from Brian's work Christmas Party that we never ended up using so we had a free afternoon with the kids at this arcade. They loved it! I was reminded that arcades are a little overwhelming and a lot over stimulating for me. It felt like.... a lot. But we made the best of it and even got some prizes at the end of it all!
Yesturday was one of the days of the year that we look forward to each time! We went to Winsport snow tubing and it was just as great as it sounds. We usually go each year with the same set of friends and every year we have a blast. This year was just the same. The weather was perfect, the company was even better.
This week has been TOP SHELF. Minus the crazy flu that a couple of us got, we have cherished every moment together. These kids LIGHT UP MY ENTIRE LIFE! I truly live for them every day. They are the icing on top of my days and I feel like the luckiest Mom in the entire world to get to be with them day in and day out.
Brian is my absolute best friend. We have laughed so much together this week. We share the dance in the kitchen, jump into his arms and nessle my head in his neck kind of love. I couldn't have imagined doing life with anyone else. He truly fills my entire cup! Man, I lucked out.
Tonight we are ringing in the New Years with friends and our family and I am so excited to see what adventures 2023 will bring our way. Together, we can conquer the world. A big cheers to 2022 as we leave it behind and remember the amazing moments we have had.
