Christmas Concerts

Christmas Concerts have my whole heart. I heard so many schools in Calgary cancelled their concerts this year because people are getting sick and the government has suggested that we dont do them. I LOVE that our school ignored that and did it anyway. It literally FILLED MY ENTIRE SOUL!!!! Listening to these cuties sing as loud as they can without and reservations about Santa and Reindeer and even the saviour had my eye watering and my heart filled with joy.

I feel like in public schools these topics of Santa and Jesus are so taboo. You never hear of them anymore but I am so wildly grateful our school still celebrates Christmas in such a traditional way. It just makes me feel so happy.
Bentley and Penny had their Christmas concert last night. They did great! Penny's grade 3 class performed two songs. The first a little upbeat jingle about Winter being here and the hussle and bussle of the season. It was really cute and kept my cheeks hurting from smiling.
They also sang and signed the most beautiful version of Silent Night. They did sign launguage for two verses and sang one softly together. It had tears flowing throughout everyone in the audience. It really was just so beautiful and brought such a special spirit to the concert.
Bentley got to play the handbells for his portion of the concert and he nailed it! Also such a beautiful Christmas song. He looks like hes unhappy but to be honest he was just really concentrating on the notes and the nerves.
Its crazy to think that the kids haven't done this in 3 years because of Covid. We haven't watched a concert or gathered for Christmas in such a big gym for such a long time and it felt so good! Even though Carter's Junior High Concert wasn't until tonight, he still made his way into it by having his hilarious art desplayed on the piano for the concert. Oh Carter.. lol
Carter was incredible tonight! I am so proud of him. He accompanied the Grade 6 band and his Grade 7 band and was so focused. Carter played in 4 songs. He played the Xylophone (twice), two symbols, the snare drum and the Gong! He was nervous about the gong but honestly, he nailed it. Carter, you really do have a tallent for playing music, it is such a joy to watch.
I am so proud of all three of them for working so hard to make these christmas concerts just specktacular! I wouldn't change a thing!

Our school does such an amazing job at celebrating holidays. Its a huge part of why I love our school. They have celebrated Christmas Pajama Day, Christmas gift exchanges, white elephant gifts, Spirit day just happened and Red and Green day is coming up! Honestly its overwhelmingly fun and I wouldn't wish it any other way!
So grateful that the reason for this season doesn't need to be forgotten at a school where kids spend most of their time at.
