X Country 2022
Even though this commitment was little on my end, I am SO happy that they kids did X-Country again this year and also so glad it's done. Bentley and Penny have had practice every Tuesday and Thursday at Recess and had onE race at their School and most recently one race in High River.
We are so lucky that the weather has been so amazing. Both of the races were beautiful! No complaints there. When I innitailly asked the kids if they were going to do it, Penny immediately said "Yep!". Bentley thought about it for a few seconds and then with confidence said "Ya, I'm ok with getting a participation ribbon".. in his mind, he was being realistic about how fast of a runner he is compaired to some of his friends. I nearly died laughing lol Way to set the bar high for yourself buddy. He cracks me up, I love him so much.
In all reality, they do it with Friends. Everything is better with friends. Because of their grades, Penny (Grade 3) races 1km around the course and Bentley (Grade 5) racese 2km around the course. I AM SO PROUD OF THE BOTH OF THEM!!!!!
They pushed themselves HARD! They had FUN! And they made some pretty fun memories to go along with it!
Penny was shocked and SO happy when she saw that Brian came to their first race. It was so special. He is always at work when these races happen but on this particular day he was at meetings off site of his office and they finished in time for him to rush over and cheer them both on! We all were so happy.
I can't forget about Carter too! Because he is in Junior High this year, their races are a little different. They run a 2km race earlier in September. The top 10 kids go to divisionals. Carter came in 8th place! So he got to miss a day of school and go to divisionals. He races with 60 other students from multiple schools. I wasn't there but I heard his shoe came off mid way through the race (This is suh a Carter thing to have happened lol) and he came in 39th place. Still actually so good considering the circumstance of his shoe. Haha! So SO proud of this guy too!!
Its been a good season for everyone. Cross Country is now all wrapped up and one less thing on our plate. We're so proud of you Carter, Bentley and Penny.. WAY TO GO!
