Leprechaun Trap!
St. Patricks day is really something unique. It's one of those holidays that I really don't have the desire to fully celebrate but we do it every year because the kids love it! Penny is still 100% into creating a Leprechaun trap and so a week or so ago, the kids all worked together and made one.
The idea this year is that this mini garbage can would do the trick. The Leprechaun would try to grab one of the fake gold coins and would fall through the flip garbage lid and be stuck! Good thinking kids!
Every year, Penny goes to bed hoping that we catch a Leprechaun but then every St. Patricks day morning she wakes up panicking that we maybe actually caught him and then what would we do with him?! What if he bites us?! So many worries lol why do we do this again??
The Leprechaun came but we didn't catch him. He did get stuck in our trap, but we didn't know that he carries some reinforecements incase he does get caught. He cut a hole in the side of our trap, trashed the kitchen and took off! Tricky guy.
I sent the kids off to school in all their green gear! They don't look thrilled in this photo because they weren't. We were fighting and tired and just trying to make it out the door almost on time. It was a "hang in there" kind of morning.
While they were gone, I spent the day making 15 plus freezer meals (spring sports might kill us so all the easy ready meals will be so helpful!)
I also set up this gross bucket game. I made some gross sensory bowls and hid loonies in it. Each bowl had the same "ingredients" and layers.
Then, I hid them in a box and cut out arm holes so they couldn't see what they were touching but had to dig their hands in and find the loonies. Yuck!
They did eventually find all the loonies but they were so grossed out, it made such a disaster and was so annoying to clean up that next year, I'll have to find a new game to play!
They had cupcakes for dessert and then we rushed out the door for basketball for the boys and dance for Penny.
It was such a busy day and I still feel tired from it. In fact, I even made them these little skittles rainbow jars and completely forgot to give it to them on St. Patricks day so we gave it to them today and watched a family movie with treats.
I know its only about to get busier and I am bracing myself for this new phase of "taxi driving Mom" we are in. Dividing and conquering with Brian. Good thing we made a good team!
