Pickley

Well, we're on the last day of school of the very first week. We are all tired. The kids are happy and our hearts are full within our own walls.

I have been stuggling mentally recentley and the world is falling apart again, for the 4th time, and I just feel deflated. I have stayed off social media and tried to dismiss worldly conversations. I can feel myself retracting from people and am really trying to hold it together. Everything just seems so heavy and sometimes I just silentlly break.

I have tried to fill my week alone without the kids. I have been editing and cleaning and prepping for the boys basketball and Penny's Gymnastics. On Monday, Brian and the kids and I made 42 jars of pickles. We try to do them every other year. This year Brian and I picked up the pickles, dill, garlic and the rest of the supplies and then the kids helped up stuff the jars like they always do. They're getting older and are so good at stuffing the jars!! Their Grreat-Grandma Reed would be so proud of them.
Because it was the first week of school and we counted Tuesday at their offical first day because they all went to school together, I put together their little first day surprises. I love that I've started doing this little tradition. Once I get them off to school, I take some time and clean each of their rooms and leave them a little love note and treat.
I really am so proud of these kids and am so happy that they're ours. They were so excited to see what treat they had this time and everyone was so happy. I love seeing their excited faces!

I know we're only a week in but everyone is still loving school. All three of them are so happy. I got to volunteer for the first time in a year and a half at their school BBQ last night and it was SO good to be back volunteering. I really hope we will still be able to as the year goes on.

Here's to another weekend filled with sports and adventures!
