Bug Camp
We just got home from our last planned camping trip of the summer. My parents invited the kids and I out to their trailer for a couple of days. Brian had to stay working.. boooo. It was fun and the kids loved being back in their element filled with dirt, staying up late, eating way too much junk food and BUGS! SO MANY BUGS!
The kids had a blast. The last week and a half has been HARD with so much fighting and bickering and I will say that going camping didn't fix the problems but the fresh air is always nice.
We went down to the river and found great rocks and then finished with a little mini hike around the beaver trail. We did not see any beavers but we loved it.
Once we got back, my mom gave the kids some new sharpies and had them colour their special rock. I always love to see them get creative and take their time and I am so proud of their rocks that they degisned and coloured!
Penny was on her bike SO MUCH. She loved biking around with kids from the campground or even just by herself. She was in her element on that bike with her bunny strapped to the back keeping her company. I love this about Penny.
She picked wildflowers with Grandma and felt so special to have that one on one time with her.
Then... THEN.. the bug hunting began. I kinda actually feel like a professional bug hunting mom. Like, I impress myself for someone who is definitely NOT a fan of bugs. We found so many spiders. Big ones, little ones and even a yellow spider! We trapped ants and watched the spiders attack them and vice-versa. We caught moths and even mosquito larva! The scariest one to catch was this Horn Tail. Basically a massive hornet thing with a HUGE stinger. My heart was racing but we needed a close up look at that crazy thing! Ewwww!!!
My parents even put together a night movie for them and my sweet mom snapped this picture for me.
The mornings were cold a chilly. We cuddled up with a warm breakfast and then straight to playing. Sipping rocks into water to see how cool they are when they change colour.
And biking in pajamas... nothing is cuter!
On the last day, my sister and her kids came out and our kids were SO happy to have cousins there to play with. Its fun seeing them catch bugs, find rocks and play cards and craft together.
And kobe... he was on cloud nine just so happy to be out camping again.
Thank you so much Mom & Dad for putting everything together for this camp trip. I was spoiled and didn't have to pack anything other than bikes and clothes and kids! It was nice to snuggle up with Bentley sharing the bottom bunk all night, cuddles I never want to end!
So gratful that I had this opportunity to take the kids with me to see my parents in the woods with the cutest little group!
