Get it

This weekend has been so good. The weather has been steady in the 20s and we've all ended this weekend with sunburns and probably heatstroke, oops!

We've been to Granary Road and had a picnic BBQ at our school park where the kids played baseball, bubbles and chalk and had the best time. I chose to leave the camera at home and just be present. It was a great weekend.

We ended the weekend by going out to Kananaskis and finally take the kids target shooting. IT WAS THE BEST! We were SO impressed. The kids were better than me and hit all the targets on their first ever shot. I just can't even believe it. They were so natural and in their element. It was SO fun watching them be steady, relaxed, happy and focused! We will absolutely be going again and again and again.

We drove out and found the perfect spot.
Carter helped Brian cross the little creek and set up the targets while Bentley, Penny and I stayed back and threw the rocks in the creek.
This spot was awesome because we were able to put empty cans filled with water and targets on the big tree for the kids (and me! lol) and then Brian put some target paper WAY far back for himself.
The kids used Brian's .22 rifle. Carter was up first. Steady, calm and so focused. He listened to all the tips that Brian could give him and then took his first shot and nailed a bottle target, first shot! Way to go buddy!! He then nailed the second can on the second shot... it got to the point where I had to tell him to aim somewhere else or there would be no cans left for Bentley and Penny. He did GREAT and was ALLLLL smiles after his first round.
Bentley was up second and just like Carter.. he hit two cans quickly and I also had to tell him to aim somewhere else and leave some for Penny. Looks like next time, we will be bringing A TON more pop cans!! Bentley was steady and focused. He was cute too, every time he took a shot he would pop his head up and look at where it went and then have to find his form all over again. He was soaking it all in and so happy.
Penny did not skip a beat and was so excited for her turn! She had to use Brian's feet at a foot stop to stay on her chair and I just melted because she is only 6 and sometimes she seems like shes 10, so little reminders like this is sweet. I adore this little lady of ours. Penny wasn't nervous at all and listened to her Daddy with real intent. It took her a few more shots but it wasn't long before she too his her fist target and then she did it again and again. We are proud of you Penny!
I tried too. I didn't hit anything but the dust and the tree BUT I did try and it was fun to look like "cool mom" for a second and then quickly turned into "lame mom" who can't hit a thing. HA!

Brian went last but used his hunting rifle. He went for the really far back targets and with 8 shots, hit the target everytime. Is this a proud wife moment? Sure is! Way to go Bri-guy, love you! You look hot with a backwards hat and a rifle ;)
I was sure Penny would have fun doing this but Penny is also a super girly girl who loves pink and sparkles and fasion and ALLLLL things girly but today I was reminded that she also has two older brothers who she likes to keep up with and isn't afraid to get dirty and I LOVE that about our Penny Girl!
This was such a fun family activity and as always, its great to be in the no reception zone with these four. I cherish days like today. I am so proud of them. The very first thing the kids said when we got back to the car was "Can we go again tomorrow!?" They're excited to go back and get better and better.
They were ALLLLL smiles, such a fun day together.
