Beach Bum Vibes
Having no school hanging over our heads and a few days off together has been AMAZING! The weather hasn't been perfect BUT we have absolutely taken advantage of evern the slightest amount of sun!
We have been out shooting, again, this time with WAY more pop cans and a picnic and it was SO MUCH FUN!
Kobe was the only one whos been in big trouble this weekend. That little turd ATE THE CARPET! Urrrrggg. We haven't been putting him in his crate when we leave because he has proven time and time again to be such a good boy who doesn't need to be locked away so I have no clue what happened or what he was thinking but he totally ruined the carpet at the top of our stairs! I was SO mad. Since then, he's been back in his crate.. when does this end and how do I trust him again....
Ok, moving on.. that awful carpet story is hijacking the happiness of these May long weekend adventures.
Even though it was only 8 degrees, the kids BEGGED us to take them to the lake Saturday evening. Initally we said no. It was so cold and windy and really didn't think it would be enjoyable. Then we agreed to going just to walk around the lake on the path and stop at the playgrounds. Sweet Penny said "Im not mad but I am just sad because I really wanted to go play in the sand". Well, that was enough to make my heart swell so we gave in and Carter packed the van with all the sand toys and beach towels and away we went. We got there right 6pm. The sun was lower in the sky, it was so windy and we really thought we would only be there for 20 minutes but the kids were determined to get in that sand and they were so happpy about it.
While they played and played Brian and I sat freezing on the bench covering ourselves up with their big beach towels. We had hoodies on and still felt so freezing! I really have no clue how they were doing it but it was SOOOO cute to watch and we loved every minute of it. We were so glad we changed our minds and went.
Then.. THEN... the boys just HAD to get in that water. It was so cold, it hurt my hands when I was just rinsing off the sand buckets. Bentley kept his sweater on... not sure that actually was helpful for him but he did it. They went up to their chest, multiple times. Remeber when I said it was only 8 degrees! Yikes! They're so brave.
We really thought that they would FOR SURE want to go home now that they were wet and it was getting colder and still windy, but nope! Off to the playground we went! It was fun walking up on the boys just sitting on park benches chatting like best friends would. I often see them bickering and annoying eachother so this was an especially lovely sight to see. I live for these moments!
Carter did try to dry off and warm up by lying in the middle of the concrete basketball court for a few minutes. I think it must have been nice. Clever guy!
We had A BLAST at the playground. I think because we were all a little tired and freezing that we just felt extra silly. we laughed so much it hurt. It was such a fun time spent with the ones I love the very most.
Although we were initally hesitant, this was exactly what our family needed. I think we are still feeling frozen from this particular evening but it was worth it. I loved seeing our kids getting along and genuinly enjoying eachother's company.
Today has been pretty cold and rainy. We stayed in, had Church at home and watched a family movie. Tomorrow will look much the same with lots of rain. Regardless of the weather, I love having all 5 of us home hanging out together. Those are my very favouite days!
Now, we are on the homestretch for summer and I cannot wait!! We will soon be making our summer bucket list and I plan to cherish all of it!
