Because of Him

Easter always recenters me. For me, its a humbing holiday. Its a reminder than because Jesus Christ gave his life for you, for me, for all of us, we can return to live with God again. It was on the third day, that the tomb was empty but his spirit was there. He lives and so will we. This holiday reminds me that our Saviour walked a mile in my shoes. That I am not alone and that he knows us and all of our trials. I am grateful for this Easter season. I am grateful that our children know their Saviour and the sacrifice that he made and I am overwhelmed by the joy I have because I know families are eternal.

Easter brings so much fun. Easter egg hunts, family and SO MANY TREATS! On Thursday we went to Brian's parents house for an Easter Egg hunt. There are still strick restrictions with Covid but we are aloud to gather 10 people outside and so we did. It was only our family and how we wished we could have seen all the cousins together. Hopefully next year, we can. Nevertheless, it was special. Our kids were SO excited to see Grandma and Grandpa Reed. We had hot dogs and an easter egg hunt and the kids played Basketball and we were able to visit. It was so nice.

Within two minutes of leaving Penny quietly announced "This is the most special Easter." Bentley said "This is my favourite" and Carter said "Grandma and Grandpa are the best." They each felt so lucky and it was the perfect start to our Easter Weekend. Thank you Mom & Dad Reed for spoiling them and loving them so much. They feel it and that means the world to us! Love you guys! Yesterday we had dinner with some of my family. It wasn't long but it was lovely. It was so nice for our kids to see their cousins. My Mom gave each of the kids a big easter bunny... the ones she used to buy for my sister and I and it was so sweet. They're all growing so fast and this brought so many smiles and filled hearts. We are grateful for family.

This morning was the long awaited arrival of the E.B. Aka: The Easter Bunny. This year, the Easter Bunny not only hid the eggs BUT he did it with clues and a scavenger hunt. IT WAS SO FUN! We took video of the whole process with the kids but because of that I didn't get any pictures. Their smiles were so big, they had cute little squeals at each egg found with the clues and they LOVED the scavenger hunt! It started off with empty tin buckets and the first clue, as they found the eggs they filled their buckets.

The clues led them to their rooms and under their pillows, in the bathrooms and laundry room, at the front door and in the garage. They had to look in between the couch coushions and in the shoe bucket. The very last clue took them to inside their closets. Their buckets were filled and they opened all their eggs! It was such a perfect morning.

Brian and I always get them an easter surprise too. Usually somehting practical. They were mostly excited about their flip flops!

Our Easter morning didn't end there! Instead of dying or decorating Easter Eggs this year we decided to shake it up and play a game instead. Easter Roulette! Last night I hard boiled 9 eggs and then added one uncooked egg to our carton.

We all drew one card from a deck of cards and whoever got the lowest number got to pull first. Before you had to crack the egg on your head, you had to tell everyone what is your favourite part of easter! It was cute. We heard things like "that the Saviour died for me" and "That the Easter bunny comes and we get chocolates".. We went around the table once, everyone picked a hard boiled egg...

Nerves were high for round two. Brian did it, and was fine. Carter did it and it was fine. But Bentley.... He picked the wrong egg... and BAM! Egg in the face! We all burst our laughing, inculding him... it was so funny.

He was such a good sport. We have had such a busy few days including staying up way too late now that Spring break has offically started so the rest of this special day will be spent realxing, watching General Conference, staying in pyjamas and doing laundry. I love this sweet family of mine and these three precious souls that bless my life beyond measure! We are the luckiest.
