March, again
Well, its been nearly a year of our world shutting down. We are tired and frustrated and just wanting our normal life back. I'll admit I've learned what is really important in life. Family, friends, hugs and feeling safe. We are trying to find normalcy which can be hard with the provincial restrictions in place. We refuse to teach our kids to live in fear and we lead by example on that one. We will not be scared to live this beautiful life that we have. Germs help build up their perfectly imperfect immune systems and I truly believe that it will make them stronger. We let them play with other kids and don't shame them for getting too close in proximity to other people but teach them to respect others opinions. Being a parent is so hard already. Being a parent during a pandemic... ummm... extra hard!
We haven't been able to go to church either. Everyone is expected to connect online for a live zoom sacrament meeting and only those who are not able to have the sacrament given in their home or who are part of the program for the week are invited to attend. We havent gone to the church in Months. The boys have missed out on cub activities and everything seems so distant at this point. Last weekend, however, Brian was asked to give a talk! This was our ticket in! We gladly went and sat in the pew. It felt so lovely and farmiliar. It was calm and peaceful. It made me long for more. I want to be there. At home, we get complacent. Its hard finding a balance of reverance and still making it somewhat enjoyable for our kids. I don't mind staying at home to do church, but like so many other things, I just miss the way it once was. We are rejoying this past week in the tiny change of kids sports being aloud to move forward with restrictions again. Penny is back in her dance studio (YAY!!). They have split the class up into groups of 5 and they have to wear their masks and its only 30 minutes but its so good to be back in person and not over zoom. She was one happy girl! The kids also had their Student-led Conferenced this past week. Usually, we get to go to their school and in their classroom, at their desk, they show us all their work. Its a time to self reflect on how the kids think they're doing in school. Its for them to be able to point out their own strengths and weaknesses. I love going to their school but this year, we can't. This year, a little folder for each of them was sent home instead and the kids each took turns showing us at our kitchen table. I am so proud of them. They all try so hard and it shows. Their work is neat and listening to them self reflect is really cute. However, I will say this night is also stressful. Three kids, three different grades with three different tasks, all wanting to show me the second we walked through the door. Penny had dance class, I lost my van keys and we had to zoom meet with Carter's teacher within the 30 minutes of dropping off Penny at dance, driving home, meeting with his teacher for 10 minutes and then rushing back to pick up Penny from dance. It was a long, never ending night but it all worked out. Here's to another beautiful week of weather, playing at the park and enjoying this precious life we've been given!
