Half my life.
When I was 17 and Brian was 16 (almost 17... I'm not THAT much older than him lol) we were inseperable. As annoying as it probably was for our separate group of friends, we couldn't help it. ANY chance we got, we chose to be side by side. We flerted and he gave me EVERY SINGLE butterfly feeling in the world. I would fall asleep thinking about him and wake up extra early to look extra cute knowing I would for sure see him at school. We did projects together.. like the one on the Cold War that Im pretty sure Brian did alone because I don't remember it at all, I was probably too busy staring at him and dreaming about what our babies would look like one day, HaHa!
We would sneak late at night to chat on MSN messenger (yes I realize that this is aging us, quickly). We would "study" at the library just to see eachother. We would meet up at the car wash on Saturday morning just to hang out and clean our cars so our parents didn't realize we were seeing eachother every second possible. It was an honest and innocent teenager kind of love and honestly, I LOVE our love story. I love that we dated for years before getting married at the young age of 20. I was head over heals, madly in love with Brian within a month of dating him. I knew I just couldn't imagine my life without him. No one else compaired. I had ZERO desire to explore or date anyone else. None. Nadda. Brian had my heart, the whole dang thing.
As of today, I have been with Brian for half my life. 17 years without him, 17 years with him and MAN it has been the best, most rewarding thing that I've dedicated my life to. Him. Now, 17 years together sounds like a lot but honestly, for me, its gone so fast. I could count our "fights" on one hand and I still can't believe Im not sick of him yet. That sounds brash but really.. you know when you hang out with someone for days and days and eventually you just need space.. I don't get that "I need some space" feeling with Brian. We joke about how it must be too good to be true. I just could never get sick of him. Weird and awesome!
I thank his Mom and Dad for raising the man of my dreams. He was raised by GREAT parents who loved him so much, even when he was 16 and trying to run away from home and I picked him up, drove him home and said "make it right with your parents.. family is important to me!!" I dropped him off and drove away and am SO glad I did.
We are close with Brain's parents and this makes us so happy. I call them to tell them any exciting news or how our kids are doing or doctors appointment updates. I know I could call them at any time of the day, or night, and they would be there in a heartbeat. I love them so much.
My parents did a pretty good job too. They taught me that family is EVERYTHING. Literally, everything. My mom supported my teenager dating years with Brian and that meant so much to me at the time. I told her everything and Im pretty sure she would get butterflies for me. She gave me great advice and my parents have always treated Brian like their own. They tease him, love him and my dad argues with him just to push his buttons. I love the relationship they have with my Brian.
I really feel like we lucked out BUT I also really feel like we try. We try every single day. We never stop trying. We think of eachother first and respect one another. We make sacrifices for eachother and we do it with a smile. We bride one another with a massage when one of us is doing something that day that we would rather not. I watch guy shows and he watches the Bachelor(ette) with me, no matter how much it makes him roll his eyes in disgust.
HE MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!!! Day in and day out, I really truly feel like our marriage is one of a kind. I think its rare and we live in this bubble of bliss. We both know our worth and I think that is KEY! I hold him accountable for treating me with the worth of a daughter of God, like I am. And I am accountable for treating him like a son of God, like he is. Brian Reed, I remember when you asked me if I would be your girlfriend and in that moment I knew this would be longer than a little high school fling. I was all in from the moment I met you. You are my world. I love you more than you know. You were truly saved for me and I was saved for you. My love for you is bigger than I am. I know we were meant to be together, forever. I love you sweetheart. Forever and Ever. This half of my life has been the best.
