My Heart
Yesturday we celebrated Valentines Day. Isn't it funny how when you become a parent, all holidays are hijacked by your children. Even the most romantic one becomes about the kids, haha, but I kinda love it and it still seems ok because this day was all about L.O.V.E and we LOVE those three babes!
The kids got to celebrate valentines at school on Friday. They were so happy that this didn't get cancelled because of Covid. The only difference was that all valentines handouts needed to be at the school by Monday to give the handouts time to sit before sharing them.
I love letting our kids pick out their favourite Valentines and then together, we make them. This year Penny chose little Doggie ones.
Bentley chose little cereal boxes!
And Carter chose Squishies. These were a big hit apparently.
Friday morning was all kinds of excitement. Especially for Penny. She was dressed and ready to go by 7:15am. Of course, we had to come up with some kind of cute heart hair for school and she was so happy about it.
They all had a great day at school and came home feeling all the love from their classmates and little Valentines handouts. Such a fun day!
The news is now out that Brian was moved to a different dealership but with the same group. He is excited for this new adventure, hes moving in the right direction and all good things. He starts there today so we had the whole weekend (plus friday!) together and it was wonderful.
To be honest, Brian and I are pretty chill about Valentines Day. I mean, we're that gross in love couple who says "I love you" two thousand times a day on regular days so Valentines kind of just feels like another day for us. We always do cards (cute ones because if you're going to spend $7 on a card you might as well make it a cute one!) and often Brian brings me fresh flowers because he knows my undying love for fresh flowers. Im not a fancy rose kinda gal (although they are lovely and are def better than nothing!) but I have all the love for all other flowers. There is just nothing like fresh flowers in your kitchen.
Mom & Dad Reed even dropped off little Valentines for the kids and a box of Chocolate for the family. Bentley accidentely ate 3/4 of the box without even realizing it so Id say they were delish and perfect for our family!
On Saturday night when the kids went to bed I decorated and set out their little treats. This year I did 15 heart cards, individual for each of them, with 15 things we love about them. We did a little jar of Candy and a mini lego surprise.
On Valentines Day we delievered little bags of assorted heart candy to all their cousins and shared our love! We watched a comedy as a family and ate too many treats! For dinner we did hamburgers and finished it off with an angel food cake topped with fresh fruit and whip cream. I need to make this more often, I always forget how underrated angel food cake is!
Even though we center all the holidays around our kids, we have fun. We really do love including them, they're so fun. Plus, I can already sense Carter getting "to old" for things.. insert broken heart here.. I can't believe how fast time seems to slip away, I just want to cherish everything even if it feels impossible.
After the kids were in bed and the house finally felt quiet I spent the evening with my Valentine. Oh man, I love this guy! Even if it takes us 10 attempts to get one decent selfie photo toegther. Even if we steal all the blankets from eachother (ok fine, only I do that). Even if we loose our patience all day with the kids and have nothing left for eachother at the end of the day.. we still love eachother unconditionally. I am so happy that Brian is my forever Valentine. I love you Brian Reed, with my entire soul!
