be kind.
How is it possible that the homeschool months DRAGGGGGEEEEDDDDD on F.O.R.E.V.E.R..... but the summer months fly in the blink of an eye! Not fair! We're almost half way through summer and man, its been fun! They just announced that School is going back full time in the fall with safety measures. We aren't exactly sure what that looks like but we will know more in the next few weeks.
Last week was our first week back at church. I wasn't sure how it would go. Would it be weird? Do we have to wear masks the whole time? Everything is so different but the spirit was still the same. We arrived right on time. We all wore a mask into the building. Sanitized our hands and sat in a pew no where near anyone else. Pews were blocked off to allow for social distancing. We weren't aloud to sing or hum. We just listened to the music being played over the bishops phone speaker into the pulpit microphone.
Sacrament was passed around differently and the bread was placed into the water cups so it could be kept clean and possible for us to only grab one without possibly touching everything. Sweet Bentley was grossed out and thought that the bread was "two for the price of one". He thought (because the bread was in the water cups) that the water was on the bottom and then the (soggy) bread was placed ontop! Haha he was relieved when he realized that wasn't the case. haha.

It was different. Oh so different. Carter and I struggle BIG TIME with masks. We both feel overwhelmed and clostrophbic about breathing in hot air while having half our faces covered. Carter has some sensory issues that make wearing a mask properly (without touching it) SO SO hard. On August 1st masks are mandatory in all indoor public places. This will be tricky. Hopefully we can adjust quickly.
I was released from my Young Woman's calling and church felt silent and empty. Everyone keeps saying "this is the new normal" but maybe its harder for me to adjust to the "new normal" or maybe I'm stubborn... maybe that's where Carter gets it from ;)
Either way, its hard to navigate 2020. To advocate for your kids and protect the people around you. I want nothing more than my kids to live in a society filled with love and affection and play! I don't want them to be 6 feet apart, separated from everyone else. Wearing masks so people cant see their expressions of how happy, worried or nervous they are but yet, here we are and it is hard. Maybe not for you, but for me it's hard. Everyone just needs to be kind.
On a lighter note. I had my nephews over for a sleepover last weekend while Amanda and Logan went and celebrated their 10 year anniversary. 7 kids aged 9 and under is HARD. Wowza. It was non stop but SO MUCH FUN! I love her boys as though they were my own. I desperately wanted milo to wake up in the middle of the night so I could relive the glory days of snuggling a warm soft baby to sleep while the house lay dark and quiet but that little turkey slept like an angel and even slept in! Next time buddy, next time.
It was hectic and crazy and loud and it was the best! Im so grateful Amanda and I have the best sister relationship that allows us to really be a tribe in raising these 7 beautiful souls!
