The kick off!
Summer has officially started, even if it kinda feels like it started months ago and we're trying to embrace it! We have had many struggles with at home learning the past few months.. but also, have seen so much success so that needs to be celebrated and what better way to celebrate than to go down to fish creek, start a fire and burn some school work.
Ok, that sounds way bigger of a deal than it actually was but the kids loved it nonetheless! Fish creek is so beautiful and has so many fun places to explore so naturally our kids loved it!
We mostly just took things we didn't care about, like instructions or extra sheets of work that hardly were used. Basically, only the papers that would end up in the blue recycle bin anyway. Except one in particular, I brought specifically for Carter. For the past few months Carter has been reading a book called "Because of Winn Dixie". Personally, I thought it was such a cute book but he HATED it. He hated being forced to read chapters and answer questions in this booklet every week. Like, full blown tantrums over it. So I just had to bring the comprehension question book for him and OH BOY WAS HE HAPPY ABOUT IT!
He really ate that up. In fact, everyone did. They had a blast tossing paper in and watching it burn!
We finished the evening off with some s'mores and fishing and it was THE BEST. We all got some fresh air, some burning paper therapy and relaxing time as a family. What more could we ask for!
