Bubbly Pizza
Keeping the kids entertained while we're all stuck at home has been exhausting to say the least but every once in a while we get a glimpse of excitement and I appreciate the extra time that allows for things like this to happen. Ill start off by saying that on this particular day, I was still in my pyjamas at 4pm. I was BEYOND tired. I could have slept on rocks if the kids would have let me. At 3 o'clock Penny wanted to make a restaurant for dinner. I tried to sway her a different direction and also tried "that sounds fun, lets plan it for a different night" but it didn't work. She was insistent. She wanted to to help her in the kitchen and then have the boys and Brian attend her restaurant. I will admit, that once we started doing it, we were having a blast. She thought of it all.. down to the last little details.
She named her restaurant "Bubbly Pizza". We made up menus and she made us both put on a dress, makeup (well played Penny, well played.. she LOVES to wear makeup!, side ponytails and coordinating bows lol
The moment Brian walked though the door from work he, along with the boys, were welcomed into her restaurant that she so delicately decorated for them. She sat them down, gave them each a menu and custom colouring pages that she had me print out prior to them arriving. Seriously, it was one of the CUTEST things to witness.
They each picked their drink of choice and then was quickly served "a fresh garden salad to start".
Penny and I sat at the counter so it was a "more real restaurant". Once the boys were all finished their started, she cleared their plates and brought them the main dish. Cheese Pizza and Red Pasta.
She was the SWEETEST little waitress. She would keep an eye on their drinks and went back a few times to refill them. Right after she filled up Brian's glass with gingerAle, she walked away and took a sip of the can and said "Oh yum, that's good!" Hahahaha it was hilarious.
The dessert was next. All three guys chose the fresh cookie dough dessert. We warmed it up just a smidge and tossed in a drink umbrella and off it went. It was a huge hit!
She again cleared all the plates and made sure everyone was satisfied. Once they were done, Penny handed them their receipt (she didn't actually charge them anything lol just a little thank you note and a cup of fuzzy peaches. "Just like the mints you get after you eat a restaurant.. my restaurant gives candy at the end!"
Brian pulled out a toonie out of his pocket as a "tip" for her. SHE WAS ELATED! It was highly unexpected. She said thank you and then ran around the kitchen corner hopping on her tippy toes with the biggest smile EVER ready to show me her money that Daddy paid her. She was so proud! Although I was beyond tired this day... this was so fun to do with her!
Just as Penny and I were cleaning up, Bentley gave her a token and said "Thank you Penny! That was the best restaurant Ive ever been to" It was cute. Right after Carter ran up to her and gave her FIVE DOLLARS from his piggy bank. She was in shock. Big eyes and almost looking like this must be a trick but she gave him the biggest hug, picking him off the ground and said thank you!! When I tucked Carter into bed that night I say "Im really surprised you gave her five dollars, that was really thoughtful and kind" and he so gently replies "Im really proud of her Mom.". This was one of those Mom moments where you realize again that your kids are GEMS!! We are so lucky we have these three. They really are good kids.
And this day couldn't go documented without mentioning our big man, Bentley, lost another tooth! It was pretty wiggly but Bentley can't stand wiggly teeth so he just yanked it out! Man, he's brave. It was a bloody mess... literally...
The Tooth Fairy came and all was well.
