Home Centered Sunday
I think its amazing that last year our dear prophet, President Russel M. Nelson, introduced to us a new "Home Centered, Church supported" program within our church. We have had a year to gain accustom to it and figure out how to center our home on the weekly teachings and have it THEN supported on Sunday at church. It's amazing that God called a Prophet who is and was an incredible physician and for this specific day and time where the world has recently announced a pandemic.
The COVID-19 (coronovirus) has been spreading around the world at a rapid rate. Last week, our church announced that all church building and activities are cancelled. Which means church needed to happen at home this week. Our province has asked us to follow social distancing and stay inside and away from crowds and it seems like daily more and more things are being shut down and we are feeling more and more isolated.
I wasn't sure how church and sacrament at home would go but I can tell you that I am thankful for a worthy priesthood holder in our home who can bless the sacrament for us. Love you Bri-Guy!
Bentley said our opening prayer. We sang an opening song. Brian blessed and passed the sacrament. Carter bore his testimony, I did the come follow me lesson. We talked about our week and Penny said the closing prayer.
During the blessing of the sacrament, in the first prayer, I started to tear up. I felt so grateful for this monumental moment in history. Church at home, just the 5 of us partaking of the sacrament seemed so personal and spiritual with just us and the kids. The spirit was strong and then VERY quickly I heard a giggle... then another and another. When the prayer was finished, Carter smiled and whispered "this is awkward". It quickly made me realize how different and unnatural this was for them. I maybe giggled with them too.
Im sure if church is cancelled for a long period of time then it will eventually become less strange for them. We did our best with what we had on hand and I really enjoyed the special moment we had together today. Dressing up in our Sunday best and honouring the saviour and our Heavenly Father in the most unconventional way brought a whole new level of love to our family.
WE continue to pray for this virus to keep u sand our loved ones safe and hopefully it will plateau soon, it's starting to get scary!
