A little Mexico 2019
Because it was a business trip, we were given flights and all the details before leaving. We flew from Calgary to Toronto on Monday November 11th.

We slept overnight in Toronto. It was fast. We landed around 10pm and had to be back at the airport by 6:30am. We made it on time but before we could fly out they had to de-ice the plane. That was new to us and kinda cool to see.
We made it to Cancun and headed to the resort where we were showered with welcome gifts. We were immediately spoiled. I am so mad at myself for not bringing my nice camera. I should have. I didn't because I was worried it would get stolen and also talked myself into taking a break from photos and enjoying the moment. I regretted it every minute lol So, lesson learned.. never ever again. So unfortunately, most of our photos are from our crappy phones but I guess its better than nothing.
Our room was beautiful and I used that tub at least twice a day, it was so glorious!
They had these cute little boats within the resort to take you around since the resort was so massive. We took them so many times, they were really fun!
The second day there we had a team building activity. We were split into 8 groups and had to play little relay games to earn points. With each game played you would earn specific tools and parts to a bicycle. We were told that we would be making bikes for children who would otherwise never have one. I LOVE a good project of love so this was right up my alley! (Insert bawling Christina here!) Once all was done, the bikes were made and decorated. We were told that the children would be receiving them the following day. There is a Myann ritual that they do where they asked us each to face the front of the room, close our eyes and imagine how happy each of the kids would be in the morning to get these bikes. They went on describing the joy they would have. When it was done, they asked us to open our eyes and turn around. When we did, all 8 kids were standing there ready to receive their bikes. MY HEART EXPLODED, the tears fell down my face like an unstoppable waterfall. Seeing these kids receiving these bikes made my entire year! I am so happy we got to be apart of this amazing experience!
We tried to spend as much time as we could at the spa. It was an absolutely amazing facility. Like, incredible! Soooo Zen and exactly what we needed to recharge.

And a "snow room" which felt just like home!
They also had multiple infinity pools which was really cool to experience.
We got to enjoy beautiful dinners and top notch service the entire time we were there. On Thursday afternoon we took a tour bus to the heart of Cancun to go on a Jungle boat tour. We didnt really know what to expect but it was super fun. They drove us to the marina where we hopped in a two person speed boat. Brian drove the boat into the ocean (one by one following the guide). We drive for about 20 minutes until we got to a national park coral reef. We were so excited to hear that we would get to snorkel in the reef. We love doing this! About half way through the reef we spotted a huge stingray! We got so close to it. It was calm and slow and we swam right beside it. HOW COOL IS THAT! I was literally in heaven!
Such a cool day. The fun didnt stop there. On Friday, we decided to go out on our own to explore Isle Mujeres. We took a taxi from the resort to the Ferry. It was about a 20 minute ferry ride over to the little Island.
The water was so beautiful.
Once we got there, we rented a golf-cart to get around the island. One half of the Island was this intensely beautiful cove. I could have stayed there all day. It took my breath away, the beauty was never ending. So so amazing!
The other half of the island was true true Mexican culture. Shops everywhere, vibrant colours, people yelling at us to stop and buy their things that are so special to them. It was a little overwhelming but amazing to see their culture and their daily life.
We also quickly stopped at a turtle museum. We were really only there for 15 minutes or so just to quickly look but it was cool to see the little turtles so close. We got to feed them too but mostly what I wanted to do was pick them up and smuggle them back to the ocean. Thats really what this place made me want to do lol
We spent the last night at a fancy dinner. Brian did have to do seminars every morning which was just fine. I am so thankful for this time I have, alone with Brian, to reconnect, to talk, to be romantic and silly and to have no responsibility for a few days. It was the perfect way to recharge. We spent one night at the sports bar located on the resort, drinking non-stop carbonated water with lime and playing pool. We were flirty and had SO MUCH FUN. It was such a nice break from everyday life that so often consumes us.
Saturday came and we spent every second we could at the pool. We literally stayed in the pool until 15 minutes before the shuttle was there to pick us up and take us to the airport. We quickly changed from our swim suits into our airport clothes and got on the shuttle. We were anxious to get home and see the kids. Little did I know that we would be coming home super sick and topped that off with the full blown flu but we're on the mend and dreaming about Isle Mujeres again.
We are so blessed to have had this opportunity. To have been offered this particular business conference and that it worked out that I could go with Brian while the kids stayed home with my parents. We are lucky and we don't take that for granted. I love you Brian Reed and for the rest of my life you will always be my best friend and the one person I always want to spend all my time with.
