End Of Summer Bash

Nooo!!!! Summer don't end!!! Actually wait, the kids are NON STOP fighting every five seconds so maybe just a couple of days of school and then back to summer break! Please?!

Last weekend our community lake hosted an "End of Summer Bash". They do it every year but this was the first year we made it out to it and stayed the entire time and it really was a BLAST! Oh, we had so much fun!

Bounce Castles over and over and over again!

We got some mini donuts...we bought way too many but they looked and smelled SOOOO good so we couldn't resist!

And at the end of the evening when the sun was gone, we stood in the rain and watched the fireworks! It was SO FUN! The kids didn't care one bit that it was raining and would have weathered any storm to watch those explosive colours in the sky!

On another note. Brian is a week and two days past surgery. He's recovering well but obviously in a TON of pain and discomfort. We're making the very best of it. Brian is truly a rockstar. You know how everyone jokes about the "man-flu" ..assuming all men just "milk it" and need an intense amount of babying... well, not Brian. He even bought a plastic wrap for his cast and came swimming with us this week. Although he laid low and mostly in the hot tub, he didnt miss it (his choice)! I love that man! He didnt make it into any of our crazy photos but he was there and we are proud of him.

Brian's surgery did go really well BUT it was way more complicated that they anticipated and his 60 minute surgery turned into a three and a half hour surgery. It was all sorts of crazy. The Surgeon came out and found me in the waiting room when it was all said and done and explained to me that Brian's entire thumb joint basically shattered into 5 different pieces so they had to take it out and use a cadaver bone to fix it. Here is how bad it really is...

Ya. Not fun at all. He is expected to get those two giant pins out in the next 5(ish) weeks and then a cast for another 5(ish) weeks after that so we're looking at the beginning of November which seems so incredibly far away and such a long time to be in a cast. But, it is what it is and we will get through it.

The kids have been really understanding and helpful. Carter did THE SWEETEST thing this past weekend. He made Brian breakfast in bed (completely unassisted and no one gave him the idea to do it.. he did it all on his own.) He made him toast (a little burnt hehe) and raspberries and a glass of milk. THE CUTEST THING EVER!

So we are moving along still just living life. On August 22nd Bentley lost tooth Number FIVE! It was so loose he surprised himself when he went to give it a little tug and the tooth just plopped right out!

And I was able to pick up Pennys dance pictures from her studio last week too! She starts around year of dance in two weeks and is elated!

Really wishing summer wasn't ending so soon just trying to soak it up one last adventure at a time!
