Mama Bear

Before I begin my darling recordings of the sweetest kids on Mothers Day, I first must admit that being a mother can be terrifying! Like today for example.. I got a call from the principal asking that I come pick up Bentley from school. At Recess, Bentley tried to jump from one metal picnic table to the next and didn't quite make it... He hit his head so hard on the table and needed to be taken to the hospital. He now has a concussion and is off school for the rest of the week. No screens, no games.. nothing that makes his poor little head work so hard. This part of Motherhood is scary.

This was a scary day. I love this boy so so much and am so happy he will be ok. Now, another Mothers Day has come and gone and the kids sure made it special. I got to enjoy a wonderful morning with Penny last week at her Preschool for a special Mommy & Me day. We got to play, read stories, make crafts and I got to watch her sing some special songs with her class. It was just what my soul needed.

I can't get enough of Penny. I love spending my time with her and I have no idea how Im going to make it though the day when she goes to full day Kindergarten in the fall. I will miss my little sidekick more than I can explain!

Bentley kept his Mothers Day gift a complete surprise until Sunday morning. He made sure to tell me it was fragile and to be careful when I opened it. HOW CUTE IS THIS!? Each month has a little joke and its a cute little calendar for the next year! So cute!

Carter kept his a secret too and kept saying "its really messy" "its kinda funny" and so on... He made a little plaque with painted pictures that I will never remember what they are, I think next time, he will take his time lol nevertheless, I cherish it still and appreciate Carter and his fun personality more than he will ever know!

Mother's Day this year was kinda exhausting. Our van broke down the night before so we had to wake up early and drive it out to Cochrane (about a 50 min drive one way) to get it to the dealership so it was there first thing Monday morning. We rushed to Grandma Reed's house for a visit, then rushed to Church (we were 10 minutes late), then rushed home to change and grab the flowers that we were rushing over to Grandma Hawryluk's house. From there we headed over to my Moms for a BBQ and by then, I was just exhausted. It wasn't a very relaxing mothers day. I felt frustrated (thank you PMS) and stressed and was ready for bedtime. Brian's Mom was out of town last weekend so we're celebrating Mothers Day with her this week.

I cannot believe that the ONLY picture I took this Mother's Day was one with Grandma Reed. I literally brought my camera everywhere we went and I think I got so overwhelmed and tired that I didn't even think to use it! Urg, darn it!

And although I always seem to struggle when our schedule is so crazy busy on Mother's Day, I do appreciate all the little things. I love visiting with Grandma Reed and Grandma Hawryluk. I love seeing my Mom and Brian's Mom. I love hanging out with my sister and sister-in-laws, friends and all other Mama Bears!

Brian is the perfect match for me. He supports me and loves me and shows he appreciates me. I am so grateful to be a Mother and oh so grateful to have him by my side every step of the way.

Plus, on most days, this whole Mama Bear thing is really quite fun!

So Happy Mother's day to all you out numbered, over tired Mama Bears out there! You are my people!
