Dejunk!
We really are tying to get ready (and in the right mind frame!) to develop our basement. In order to even think about doing this, we needed to DEJUNK! We have SO MANY toys, decorations, and just so much stuff we have either outgrown or not been using. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to bite the bullet and do it! Host a garage sale. This was SO MUCH WORK! I mean, going though everything, cleaning everything, setting it up, pricing everything, the list goes on and on but I have to admit, Carter, Bentley and Penny were AMAZING little helpers for the weeks leading up to it and surprisingly were so happy to get rid of lots of their toys. They were very mature at finding the things that they no longer use and willingly giving them up.
Our garage sale was HUGE! Like HUGE! My sister came with some of her things too which made it the best because I got to hang out with her all day. I told the kids that I would pay them to work at the garage sale. They would make the most if they stayed outside for the entire 8 hour day. We packed a big lunch the night before, had lots of water on hand, sunscreen and hats and the kids did INCREDIBLE! They were selling, helping with the money, calculating the change and they stayed outside for the entire 8 hours! Im so proud of them!
The boys were each hoping to earn enough money to buy the Disney Infinity 2.o version and penny was hoping to earn enough money to go on date with just Mom (and Brian eventually was invited to tag along lol). The boys completely earned the 2.0 version and got it Saturday night and Penny and Brian and I will enjoy our lunch and movie date next week together! I also gave them each $11 (they wanted bills and change lol) cash and they were so happy.

And this was Saturday at 4pm, nearly everything was gone and what was left I took to "play it again sports" and got $10 and to once upon a child and got an extra $50 and the rest went off to Value Village.
It was a HUGE success! And although I'm so glad its over and everything is gone (my basement looks so empty and fresh!!) it really was a fun day in the sun with my sister and the kids!
Now, fast forward 3 days, I got a call from Bentley's principal today at 1pm. Bentley had an accident at recess. He apparently tried to jump from one metal picnic table to the next and didn't quite make it. I picked him up and took him to emergency. He doesn't remember getting to the office or who took him there. He doesn't remember who he was playing with and felt nauseous and has a headache.
Our poor boy has a concussion. The Dr. chose not to do a CT scan because of the radiation and he feels like Bentleys concussion scored ok to be able to push the CT a couple of days and reassess. So for the next two days, Bentley is not aloud to go to school, do any reading himself, ZERO screens, no running around or any kind of physical activity. We are watching for dizziness, or any signs of him being wobbly, falling over, any tilting while standing. If we see any of that we need to take him back, otherwise just wait it out at home.
Bentley is fine to loose screens but isn't happy about missing school. I plan on helping him take it easy, eating lots of ice cream and enjoying all this extra snuggle time I get to have with him and hopefully in a few days he will be back to his normal self - minus trying to spider-man himself from table to table.
