Fresh new spaces

A couple of weeks ago I hit my breaking point with Carter and Bentley constantly fighting. They share a room, hand-me-downs, toys, video games and spaces and they were sick of each other and I was sick of the constant fighting! They woke up fighting, and went to bed fighting. So, after church a couple of weeks ago I said enough is enough and I moved Carter into Pennys room and moved Penny into the boys room so she was on the bunk-bed with Bentley. Hopeful that a little space between the boys would calm the fighting. It totally worked! They have been getting along so much better! Carter is LOVING having his own space where he can go to read a book, take a minute to himself, get dressed alone.. the list goes on and on. He LOVES it! We are hoping to develop our basement this year and when we do, Carter has decided to go down to the bedroom in the basement and then Bentley and Penny will each get their own room too but for now, this is a great fix!

I didn't really take any true "before" pictures because I didn't actually intend on redoing any bedrooms at all but Carter was now sleeping in a pink bedroom. Half of me thought "its temporary who cares" and the other half of me thought "kids can be so mean sometimes.. what if someone comes over and makes fun that he's sleeping in a pink room.." Urg.. being a kid can be hard enough sometimes so I painted it! Unfortunately the first paint colour still looked pink-is.. almost like a maroon tint to it. But I left it. Here is what it looked like after the first coat of paint... (sorry, just iPhone photos and awful lighting)



Then, Bentley and Penny wanted their room painted too (of course..). I knew their rooms (no matter what) needed new paint.. including all the baseboards and trim so the next week, I painted Bentley and Penny's room.. just, why not. This is what it looked like before (again.. crappy iPhone photos with crappy lighting)





It needed it. I painted it a super light grey. It looks so fresh. Then I went back into Carter's freshly painted room and painted it again but this time I painted it the same colour as Bentley and Penny's and it looks WAY better!

We added a few pictures and a few little decorations and voila! New to them and fresh to me! No one is fighting, Bentley and Penny are loving sharing a room and bedtime is much smoother! We are all happy! Check out Bentley and Pennys room.

Im so glad Carter has his own space. He needs it. Im also happy Bentley and Penny are enjoying sharing their space. Those two are great little friends! Now, I can take my time finishing the basement without the pressure to get Carter his own space so the fighting can lessen. We all love these fresh new spaces!
