Lake Louise Adventures

I'm not sure that I've ever been to Lake Louise... at least not in a VERY long time if I have. Lately we have been soaking in all the family time we can! Last Sunday, we went to church early and then right after, we packed a picnic, jumped in the car with an abundance of snacks and movies and drove out to Lake Louise for the day. They had their ice castle there which is what originally caught our attention. The Ice castle was impressive (Im going to sound so spoiled here... ) but WAY smaller than I thought it would be. I didn't realize it was mostly just a castle wall... not an entire castle per say.

However, don't get me wrong... the talent there is incredible! How someone can take one humungous block of ice and turn it into something spectacular is beyond me. It's so fun to see how everyone is talented in different areas. The kids each chose their favourite ice sculpture and we snapped a pic with it!

This lake is so beautiful, I think we will have to come back in the summer to soak it in some more!

I think the best part for our family was just playing in the snow. We didn't bring and toboggans but that didn't matter.. we found a pretty packed down hill and went for it! It was pretty good, and we sure got our exercise. Bentley and Penny were up and down so many times I was surprised their little legs could climb so much!

Just at the bottom of this hill was another little hill covered in perfectly fresh, smooth and never been used 4 feet of snow pile and we were in HEAVEN! Brian tossed the kids in a dozen times and we were all getting a kick out of it.. and Carter.. he was so happy to relax in it, facing the mountains and soaking in life.

A winter storm rolled in just as we were almost ready to leave and although it made the drive home a little scary, I am SO GLAD we witnessed it! We have never walked in the mountains with so much snow falling down on us! We compared it to a rain storm in the tropics but snow... in the mountains. It was incredible! God is oh so good. There is so much beauty surrounding us everyday, we choose to see it!
