Be Mine?

I love Valentines Day. I love all the kind words and expressions of gratitude floating around. Brian and I don't go all out on Valentines Day for each other.. we don't really need to... we say "I Love you" literally a hundred times a day, kiss goodbye and hello AND are grossly lovey at all times. HA!

BUT, every year we do still say "Will you be my valentine?" This year we said it as we brushed our teeth.. so romantic right?! I know. We don't do gifts but we usually like to order in when the kids go to bed and watch a show (usually a comedy because he loves me so much). Theres no big to-do and we like it that way.

However, we also have three little Valentines who LOVE this day and asked us to be their Valentine too. Let's be honest, probably because they wanted some sort of Valentine gift, and they got it because I cannot resist.

The past two weeks have been busy and exhausting but we pulled it together at the very last minute to make it happen. And I mean, while picking up a prescription last night at 10pm at shoppers drug mart. We got this.

Carter's

And Penny's

The kids shared some love with Brian and I too in the morning, check out these cute cards. Penny was so sweet, yesterday she made these cards all by herself and hid them under the chair in the living room. She put a piece of her tape gum in a baggie for us as a gift and we were just smitten with her creativity. They are the best to have around on Valentines.

Penny Celebrated Valentines at preschool on Tuesday because she didn't have school today. She signed all her Valentines to hand out to her class and was over the moon happy with all the little treats she brought home.

Carter was in charge of bringing a treat to share with his class today for their Valentines Party and he too loved giving out his Valentines to each of his classmates. Carter loves science so we decided to give everyone a mini science experiment. The oldest one in the book and yet, still so exciting!

Bentley knew exactly what he wanted to do since the beginning of January, so his Valentines were done weeks ago and he was extra happy that there were extra bugs for him to keep. Loves loves bugs, and animals, and flowers, and basically all living things!

I love sharing all these little holidays that are a little more overlooked with the kids. We have fun, there is no pressure and we get to eat chocolate.. lots of chocolate. They make my heart beat, they make life worth living through all the trials and they bring SO MUCH LOVE into our home on the daily.

We had so much fun taking these pictures (OK, mostly me but actually the kids did to this time!) but the CUTEST thing I ever did see was watching Penny (when we were all done) blow up probably 20 more balloons by herself, set up her baby Maverick, grab her pretend phone camera and start snapping away. My cheeks hurt from smiling as I secretly pretended that I wasn't watching her every move.

SHES SO CUTE WITH HER BABIES!! After she saw me snapping photos of her she told me that Maverick wanted his Grandma (meaning me lol) to have a few pictures with him. She totally posed me and told me EXACTLY what to do, where to sit AND how to hold her baby while she took some pictures. It lasted a good 30 minutes and I gained a new appreciation for being bossed around and forced to take photos. LOL Sorry kids!

Above all the fun we have had preparing for Valentines and spreading love, we've also had a tough couple of weeks and Brian has been there non stop for me. This man, oh man, I am so proud to claim him as mine. He is absolutely above and beyond amazing. He is tough and brave and gentle and calm and all around everything I ever dreamt about. We might not do gifts or make Valentines a big deal between the two of us, but I for sure appreciate him daily for everything he is and everything he does. Happy Valentines Day, my love, I am so in love with you!
