Father's Night

On Tuesday, Penny had Father's Night at preschool. She has been preparing and was so excited to have Brain go with her in the evening back to preschool for an evening of just the two of them.

She had been talking about it for weeks and finally, it was here. Now before I get to how great the evening was, first things first. Tuesday was quite the traumatic day for Penny (and me too!). She got her first set of stitches Tuesday morning. Poor girl! She took a spill when she was climbing on the counter reaching for a little cupcake timer. She slipped and hit her little mouth on my kitchen-aid mixer.

Carter and Bentley were with her when it happened and they did all the right things. Brian and I were just upstairs when Carter came sprinting up yelling "MOM, DAD!!!!! Penny is bleeding she needs your help!!!!". We ran downstairs as fast as we could and when we got there, Penny was sitting on the counter, Bentley was standing on the ground right beside her and we heard him say "Its ok Penny, Its ok.. see.. I have blood on me too.. no big deal, I have blood on me too!!" as he tried to console her while wiping blood on his face too. (Kinda gross but OH MY HEART, what a tender moment of her brothers caring so so much for her!)

She got two little stitches and she was so sad but she did amazing and was VERY brave. She quietly sat still as tears rushed down her face. I was standing beside her until the needle came out and then I said "Oh ok, Im going to pass out". The nurse got me a chair and I did everything in my power to pull myself together and be brave with her. For the record, our 4 year old daughter is more brave than I am.

So Tuesday was the PERFECT night for a special night out with Daddy! He picked her up and put her booster seat in his car. She was soooo excited about this. They headed to the preschool and had a blast. She got to show him all around and present him with this gorgeous (and detailed) portrait she made of him. I mean, seriously.. look at her attention to detail.... facial hair... chest hair... LOL I can't even.

It was a great night and Penny was so happy to be with Brian. My heart adores these two so much more than I could ever explain!
