All things Unicorn!
Penny is about to turn four.. on Monday... (*insert over emotional mother here). HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!? It feels like a year ago she was cuddled up into our bed as an infant. For the last year she has been asking that her next birthday was all unicorns. She hasn't wavered even once. She has stuck with the unicorn theme and so that is just what we did!

We had her birthday party on Wednesday this past week and it was a BLAST. All day long and after her party, she told us over and over "this is the best day of my life". Music to my ears. She is so great, we love this little lady of our like crazy!

She originally requested a special unicorn cake. You know, those pinterest ones with the horn on top filled with colourful icing all down the back... I knew it would be hard but had confidence in it. HA! It was a mess! The cake COMPLETELY fell apart 3 minutes after icing it. Like literally... the layers all collapsed on the one side. It was bad and unsalvageable! I ended up tossing it in the garbage (I couldn't even make cake pops out of it because the kids (and Brian and I too) are not fans of them). So it was a total waste. I settled and made some "unicorn cupcakes" instead thinking she would be highly disappointed but when she woke up the next morning and saw the catastrophe of her cake in the garbage, she was ok. I showed her the cupcakes.. she smelt one of them and said with confidence... "OK, Good!" and that was that! What a good sport!

We set up her party with all sorts of treats and goodies. All rainbows and unicorns of course and she was beyond happy!

We did her hair too! I love that Penny likes when I do her hair (most of the time) and that she has the patience to sit though it.

She couldn't wait for all her friends to arrive! The played outside, did a unicorn craft, played "Pin the Horn on the Unicorn" and my amazing sister, Amanda, came and did face painting which was a HUGE hit!

The gifts are always such an exciting time for all the kids. Its my favourite to see their expressions and excitement. Penny was SPOILED by all her friends. She is in heaven!

My Mom and Dad came at the very end of her party and made her dreams come true. Penny has been asking my mom for this "Fluffy the unicorn" for MONTHS. We were SOOOO lucky to find it a couple of months ago when we learned it was discontinued. She bought the very last one! Penny was in love and has been sleeping with Fluffy, watching movies with Fluffy and eating with Fluffy since Wednesday!

Penny is so lucky to have such an amazing group of little friends. She genuinely wanted to celebrate her birthday with each and every one of them. It was so sweet and she felt so special and loved.

A HUMUNGOUS THANK YOU to my sister, Amanda, for coming and doing face painting for a couple of hours for Penny's party. She is SO talented and so willing to do this for her niece. We love you so much Amanda, thank you for sharing your time and your talent with us, you're amazing!

We're excited to celebrate once more as a family on Monday with Brian's parents too. I cannot believe our baby girl will be four. So many mixed emotions on this milestone. Love you sweet Penny girl.
