While Daddy's away, we will play!
Brian's gone this weekend backpacking with his friends so I am here holding down the fort, sleeping with extra locks and one eye open and hanging out with my three amigos!

The fun started on Friday. After school I took them to the Treehouse, which is an indoor play centre. Much to my surprise, they all were fighting and crying and pushing each other the moment we got there. 20 minutes in I said "ok, were out of here!" Thankfully they all pulled themselves together and ended up having a good time after all. Ever feel like your kids sometimes suck the fun out of things?! Ya, me too sometimes.

After dinner, they enjoyed some fresh bubblegum ice cream and all was well.

This morning, we woke up at 5:30 am. Yes, that's right.. FIVE THIRTY IN THE MORNING! Urg.. I think my kids are allergic to sleeping. So needless to say, I am feeling pretty exhausted but we had a few plans so we made them happen! Earlier in the week I asked my mom if she would like to come with the kids and I to the reptile expo. We went last year when Brian was camping and it was a lot of fun so we went again today. Of course, the kids were so excited to touch, feel and hold any little reptile they could. Even Penny was alllll over it (even shoving Bentley out of her way to get to the scorpion first).
They got to pet snakes, geckos and a tortoise...

And they even got to hold a scorpion... umm ewwwww.. but they were all so excited to. This totally gave me all the gross feelings.. yuck.. ewww.. totally not my thing.

Im glad we went again this year but now Carter is convinced he NEEDS a Boa Constrictor.... no.
We also did the Saskatoon Berry Farm this afternoon to kill some time and some of their energy. I love this place. The greenhouses are all so beautiful. The kids had a great time running around exploring it all and my mom and I just hung out enjoying the sun.

We indulged in some yummy homemade ice cream, which was delicious!

Saw and laughed at some awesome Turkeys, chickens and other birds too. It was fun to make up conversations between the birds making such a racket.. Carter gave us some pretty awesome laughs.

The kids climbed while my mom had heart palpitations worried that they would fall..

And while Penny checked out the chickens again (this was by far her favourite part of it all) the boys each found a cat and pet those cats like there was no tomorrow. It was cute, even though I am not a cat person.

We stopped for slurpee's and dropped my mom back off at her house. The kids and I finished off the day with a pizza dinner, go karting in the front yard and the movie Madagascar 3.
This little go kart is so much fun. The boys just rip on it! Penny was too nervous to go by herself, so i drove it and she sat on my lap. Carter and Bentley both went so fast that they whole time I was silently praying everyone would be fine and no one would get hurt. They each took turns to start.

Then the boys decided to go on together. This was probably one of the funniest and most terrifying things I have seen in forever! Just look at their faces!

Im happy to report that everyone was safe and only one minor injury (a scrape) occurred!
I would say its been a pretty successful couple of days! I mean, honestly, when you end up this dirty after one day of play, you know its been a good day!

Tomorrow I brave Church alone with the kids. Carter is sharing the scripture in Primary and Penny is giving a talk. Wish me luck. I may have went out and bought a few quiet church surprises to make this sacrament as little embarrassing as possible. If thats ever possible but Im grateful that Brian's been able to "check-out" and enjoy some fresh air, he needed it and Im more than happy to hold down the fort while he's gone. Love you babe!
