Wild and Three!
My heart is so full. We are so blessed. Three years ago today at 7:27pm, Penny Loretta Lee Reed made her way into this world and since that moment she has blessed our family beyond measure.

She is such a light in our lives. She is stubborn and compassionate about her ideas and what she wants and although sometimes it makes our days hard, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I know that Penny was saved for this time. She is such a strong little girl. I am proud to be her Mother. I am the lucky one. I get to be the one to hold her hand, to cuddle her to sleep, to kiss her owies and to paint her nails. I get to be the one to show her to love herself, her body, her talents and to be that example to her. I hope that she will emulate that strength her entire life. She is so special to our family.

Friday evening we hosted a third birthday party for her. After changing her mind a hundred times on the theme of the party, she finally settled on a jungle theme and her and I had fun making that happen.

(yes, we changed the date because the weather was so much nicer on Friday night than the forecast for Saturday and it was an outdoor party .. so Friday evening made more sense)

We rented a bounce house and although we originally ordered a jungle one and they gave us the wrong one.. the kids didn't mind and everyone had a BLAST!

Gifts were next. Penny is so easy to please.. she LOVES anything for her baby dolls and anything girly. She was spoiled by all her friends and family and has been playing with everything and wearing everything over and over again since Friday. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to celebrate her!

Next was the cake. Enough said.. kids love the cake part of the party!

One of the sweetest comments Penny made to me before her party was "Mommy, can you promise me that Maverick is coming to my birthday party because I love him, because he is a baby and I want to hold him for my birthday present". Of course I instantly made sure my sister was planning on brining Maverick because that was the cutest thing Ive ever heard. And Maverick got all the loving during the party (Probably too much loving.. he cried a few times lol)

And just before they left, Penny's Birthday present wish of holding Maverick came true. She loves that baby more than he will ever know!

My heart is full for her love of babies.
Today is Penny's big day! The day she is officially three! We are enjoying our day at home (Its General Conference weekend at church). She is in heaven playing baby house with everyone and currently she is playing hairdresser and doing my hair. I look insane and have a completely soaked back of my shirt from her crazy amount of use with the spray bottle .. but lets be honest she's in heaven and so am I!
She opened her gifts first thing this morning (She is always the first one dressed and ready to go in the morning). She has been asking for two weeks for this one specific baby doll "with the white jimmies on" that she saw at the scholastics store a couple of weeks ago. She was SO excited to see it when she unwrapped the baby and doll play mat.

She loudly exclaimed "THIS IS WHAT I WAS ASKING FOR!!!!!!!!" Oh man, she is going to be so much fun to watch at Christmas this year!!

Of course, it was set up within minutes and her big brother Carter helped her with that.

We were planning on doing cake tonight (just with the 5 of us) but she was wayyy too excited about it so we said why not and sang to her after lunch!

She has requested "Cheese Noodles" for her birthday dinner ... the box of kraft dinner to be exact.. so fancy! lol I am so excited to spend the day with this girl, celebrating her!

Penny girl, you have made us proud. You are strong and brave and such a little girly girl but not scared to be rough and rip a hole in your knees or get your hands dirty. I think back to when you were an infant. You stole my heart right away.

I was so exhausted and wished that you would sleep in your little bassinet instead of in our bed, but now, I miss those days. I miss changing you into warm fuzzy jimmies and snuggling you for hours upon hours. I miss those days. I am cherishing these days of you. Your little personality is just beautiful. I cannot get enough of how gentle you are with your dollies. You tap their bum and say "shh, shh, shh" when you say their feeling sad. You tuck them into bed but if your baby cries, then you tuck them into your bed and then snuggle them until you fall asleep. Your heart is so gentle and soft and is filled with more love than I can comprehend.

I love you Penny Loretta. Today is a special day for you. We love celebrating you. I am excited to see how you grow in this next year. We will always be by your side sweet girl.

We love you so much. Happy Happy Birthday!
