Fall is in the air!

The first week of school is behind us and all is well! One of my favourite things to do in the fall is to can pickles... lots and lots of pickles! Last year I didn't make nearly enough so this year, I bought 70 lbs and made 32 jars of delicious pickles with three VERY cute little helpers!

While the kids were helping me with canning the pickles, they were in HEAVEN. However.. don't let those faces fool you.. the boys fought like CRAZY alllllll day long (minus the 30 minutes they were helping me). Brian was working all day Saturday too so by Saturday afternoon with non stop fighting, I had had it. PLEASE, someone tell me your kids fight too?! Its CRAZY!

On the flip side, Bentley got a few Hershey's kisses (the little chocolates) from his teacher last week and he had three left. On Sunday morning, he wanted to give one to Penny, one to Carter and keep one for himself. I told him that because we don't eat chocolate for breakfast he would have to wait to share them until after church.. he was not happy with that answer but it didn't change. He forgot about it so this morning I quietly snuck the remaining 3 chocolates into his lunch box assuming he would happily eat them at school at lunch. I didn't think much of it but when the boys got home from school today and started to unpack their backpacks and lunch kits, Bentley pulled out two of the three little chocolate kisses and proceeded to give one to Carter and the other to Penny. My heart nearly stopped. He literally ate just one and saved the other two for Carter and Penny. Oh my heart. In these moments, life is grand!

(ps. I didn't even pose these two boys!.. Carter just did that.. probably because he was so happy Bentley saved a chocolate for him)

The boys started their next set of swimming lessons tonight too. They were both SOO excited to start swimming again and so it made getting ready very easy! Penny on the other hand was much less impressed that she wasn't in the pool too. She's next in line for swimming lessons and I know she is going to love it!
