Spring Break 2017
I adore that we live so close to the rocky mountains! Im honestly not sure I could ever move away from them. We are lucky enough to see them every morning while driving Carter to school and we always are longing to spend more time there. Its our favourite and last Thursday did not disappoint! The kids had a BLAST and were out like lights on the way home!
But the fun did not stop there! Easter weekend was a blast and today I took the kids out bright and early this morning to the amazing Tyrell Museum in Drumheller! I was optimistic it would be a great day and prayed I would survive the kids alone with no stroller and to my surprise.. all three were angels the entire time! It was wonderful!
The moment we got there they were immediately excited about all the dinosaurs they were going to see! We couldn't even make it into the building before taking a few pictures.
So I have to add, this morning while getting the kids dressed, both the boys put on their dinosaur shirts. Penny didn't think much of it until sweet Bentley offered Penny his extra T-rex shirt for her to wear to the dinosaur museum today. OH MY HEART! Penny was so excited! Her smile lit up the room and she wore that T-rex shirt loud and proud today! Thank you Bentley, you are so sweet! Into the museum we went!
I decided not to bring a stroller .. or a bag.. or anything and just "wing" it and Im so glad I did! Without the extra baggage I was able to keep up and explore hands on with them and lucky for us, we got there as soon as it opened and it wasn't busy at all so it truly was pretty stress free!
They were WAY more into the museum this time than last time we went. Carter and Bentley were excited for me to read a few of the signs to figure out exactly what we were looking at and how old the fossils were too. And of course, Carter had to show me (and everyone in the exhibit) just how well of a dinosaur he can be!
The kids looked at EVERYTHING! And loved it all!
This next little section has a glass floor and although Penny was brave and didn't make me carry her through it, she literally walked as slow as a snail and you could tell she was very worried about it.
They also had little aquariums that had cockroaches in one, scorpions in another and a tarantula in the last. I was totally creeped out by them and was glad they were still in their "houses". ewww
I really felt like this time, I was able to look at and appreciate all the incredible fossils that were there. We're lucky to have such a fun museum within a couple of hours from us.
When the kids saw this next little baby dino Carter was SO EXCITED about it! I mean common, two of his favourite things! A BABY DINOSAUR! He told me that he wishes he could have it but that it would never get bigger, would only eat plants and wouldn't bite him. On those conditions, he was sold!
Then we saw this little lady. Meet, Sally the Soft-shelled turtle. Apparently, she is pretty rude. She will even eat a friend if one comes to visit. She swims fast by nature and likes being alone. Sounds like she has a "cup half empty" kind of attitude. The kids still loved her though!
And of course, when you've gone through all the exhibits in the museum and you're ready to leave.. you HAVE to leave by going through the gift shop... well played Tyrell Museum.. well played. I told the kids we could not buy anything today so as a compromise I let them play with the dinosaurs for 10 minutes. They were in HEAVEN!
I had so much fun with these three at the museum! I love them so much!
Next we headed over to the GIANT T-REX! This was Bentley's favourite part of Drumheller! We were able to climb all the way to the top through the belly of the T-rex and although it didn't take long, the kids were so happy about it!
Going back down the Dino, their imaginations started running wild.
Telling me that the T-rex has eaten us and we are making our way down the belly... making sure to take note of everything inside him.. all the other dinosaurs he ate and the moment we opened the door back into the gift shop Bentley announces that we have been "pooped out" of the T-rex. It was a slow/embarrassed laugh from me and we left right after that lol
Before we had lunch and headed back home we stopped at the suspension bridge. Poor Bentley forgot his coat so we really were only on it for 5 minutes but it was fun.
Carter and Penny were full throttle but Bentley stayed close to me feeling a little nervous about the running river underneath us and honestly, I loved every minute of holding his hand in mine walking along with him by my side.
So far, Spring break has been pretty wonderful! I love having all the kids home with me. I love going on little adventures with them and I love these precious memories I get to make with them. These three kiddoes truly are our life!
