Penny gives up her "VaVa"

Since the moment she could almost talk.. she decided to name her soothers "VaVa". We have no clue why, we never used that reference but she did so we rolled with it.

We have been talking about it for a while about her giving up her beloved soothers. We maybe could have done it sooner BUT she was rocking potty training from just before she turned 2 and I DID NOT want that to go backwards so we waited a little longer. However, now, its time. She said she was ready to be a "big girl" so we decided to just do it!

On Friday, her and I walked around the entire house.. looking under the couch, under the beds, in closets, the car and in the toy room to find every last one we could find!

I think we found them all! On Saturday morning, we loaded up the kids and took Penny to Build a Bear. She picked out a teddy bear that she loved instantly and had her bag full of all her soothers ready to do it!

I wasn't sure if we would have tears or have to convince her (or beg her) to put her soothers inside the teddy but she did surprisingly well!

She willingly put her soother in the hand of the teddy so she could still feel it and gave the little heart a sweet hug before stuffing the teddy bear.

The Teddy was stuffed and she gave him a "bath" and then it was time to name her teddy and print the birth certificate!

She was SO proud and SO satisfied with her darling little Teddy who she decided to name "Bubbles".

The first night went ok. She cried at bedtime for it but she went to bed ok. She woke up a couple of times in the night for it but went back to sleep pretty quickly. The second night she asked for it again but slept the whole night though and tonight, she didn't mention it at all. Maybe the worst is over!

I am feeling bitter sweet. She's day and night potty trained and has no more soother.. those were the last "baby" things left and they're done. Its a new chapter and I wish I was more ready for it. I love you so much Penny Girl, I am so proud of you!
