Carter is SIX!!
I am excited for 6! He is getting a bit older and more independent but still young enough to go to bed at an early time and still need his mama. Six is seeming quite nice! Before I go on, I must say how lucky we are to have Carter. He is a wild one! He is stubborn and energetic but also loves his alone time watching a show or his favourite.. playing Lego. His imagination is so fun and I am so blessed to have this specific little boy as my own. Carter, you are carefree and particular. You like things done a certain way and you always know what you want. You are the greatest big brother. You take care and watch out for Penny like no one else. You love her like crazy and you show it! If Penny starts crying, Carter is the first one there to hug her. He will do everything he can when she is upset to make her laugh. His love for her is completely unconditional and so sweet to see. You and your brother are fun together too.. although you fight, you guys play together well too. You really are shaping up to be quite the wonderful little boy. I love you so much Carter.
Carter loves riding his bike, playing Lego, anything ninjago or pokemon. He is curious and ALWAYS asking questions. His birthday brings back all of my emotions on the day he was born. Holding my very first baby for the very first time was a moment I will cherish forever. He cried a ton (thank goodness he was our first baby) and was a champion sleeper. He made me a mother first. I can honestly say I don't know what we would do without Carter in our lives. He changed our lives forever and blesses our lives more than ever. We are the lucky ones.
For Carter's 6th birthday, we hosted a Lego Ninjago Party at our house. He invited 14 friends (plus Carter, Bentley and Penny) so it was a full crazy house for 2 hours but it was really fun! He handed out his invitations..
We decorated and made goodie bags...
And Carter was SOOOOOOOOOO excited about his birthday party!
When everyone arrived, we sent them all upstairs to do some "Ninja Training" with "Sensei Brian" and I was super surprised at how into it they all were. Everyone was going hard giving it their best and watching how into it Brian was was almost the highlight of the show! lol
Once they all learned their ninja moves and were taught about keeping hands to themselves and respect they each took turns showing their ninja moves with Brian and each earned their very own ninja blackbelt! (Thank you to my Mother in law who made them all! They were all so proud of it... it was ADORABLE!
Once they got their blackbelts, we went downstairs. Brian had made a "ninja obstacle course" out of our entire main level and so now that they had their ninja training done they had to complete the ninja course before they could earn their ninja certificate. There was a "snake cave" in the pantry, walking on boards and not touching the lava (carpet) crawling under the poison snake venom, through tunnels, on a little trampoline, down a slide and a bubble wrap run. Everyone did the course 3 or 4 times and it was super fun to watch them.
Then it was time for gifts. Carter was SPOILED. Thank you so much for everyone who came and brought such nice gifts. He truly felt so special.
Next was pizza and cake. Carter was very certain he wanted me to make him a Gold fondant cake. I made the mistake of looking at Ninjago bday parties on pinterest with him and so thats where he realized he wanted a "smooth" cake (fondant) and not just a regular cake. I have never really played with fondant much nor have I ever made a fondant cake but he wanted it so badly and I was up for the challenge. He did have to settle for a green fondant cake because there was no gold fondant but I did do gold dust on it and surprised him with the fancy golden ninja on top of the cake so that made up for it I think.
And right before the parents came to pick up his friends we made a slide on our stairs and prayed no one got hurt. In retrospect it was a terrible idea. Luckily no one got hurt and everyone had a blast. I even tried the slide (before the party) and it was AMAZING! We put a mattress and pillows down at the bottom so it was a super soft landing and Brian helped send the kids down one at a time and I caught them at the bottom.
Carter's birthday party was such a success that once everyone left he said "Mom, that was MY BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY EVER!!". Mission accomplished!
Yesterday was Carter's actual birthday. It was a pretty low key day. We got up and gave him our gift. He has been dying for this Ninjago Lego set so he was very excited about it!
Brian's parents came over in the morning to wish him a happy birthday too. He is so loved! We went to church in the afternoon and then made his choice of dinner which was cheese quesadillas with a side of cucumbers. My parents joined us for cake and I had a silent proud mother moment when carter said "Mom, my cake has way too much icing for me.. I don't want to finish it" ... Im not a huge cake fan and the icing is always... soooo much but it was surprising to hear him say that!
I cant even explain how much I adore this little six year old boy of ours. Happy birthday sweetheart. You are loved beyond words and I am so excited to watch how you grow this year. You mean the world to me buddy. Happy Birthday!
