Here comes the SUN!
Penny is a maniac. There is no softer way to explain her, she is a crazy little lady and keeps me on my toes every single minute of the day so any kind of "thrill" that she is in control of, she is all over!
Between the five couples we usually hang out with, together we have 10 kids so it makes hanging out very loud, crazy and in all honesty, really fun. We are so lucky to have the wonderful friends that we do!
As we near the end of summer, every "Mom bone" in my body screams for haircuts! Of course Ive taken back to school pictures (so excited to share them!) so naturally all three needed a trim!
Penny HATES getting her hair cut. I do want to grow it out and then do so many fun hair styles (hopefully I'm not living in a dream world and she will actually let me do it) but for now, her hair is so thin and so fine that it needs to keep shorter until it thickens up a bit!
One of our favourite things to do is somehow invite ourselves over to my parents house for a impromptu Sunday dinner. Especially when its hot out! We get to relax on the deck while the kids play in their backyard in the pool or picking strawberries. And lets be real here.. my mom and dad know how to cook! I arrive starving and leave feeling bloated and chunky because I have no self control. Its so bitter-sweet and we wouldn't have it any other way!
The boys even made $5 one time (to share). My Dad is famous for daring you to do something and in return, he pays you. I once ate a fly for $20 and my sister once ate a worm for $20 (We were like 14 and 16 and to this day it grosses me out!) So my Dad told the boys that if they caught the rocket from the sprinkler when it flew in the air, he would pay them $5 to put into their treasure chest box. They are currently saving up for a massive lego set to share. It costs $140 and they now have $50 saved!
On another note and another sunny day, we LOVE our lake. We love having it so close to us and its always so much fun to take the kids. Last week, we met up there with Lena and her little ones and Meghan came too. It was really fun. We got there at 10am so it was still a little chilly but the water was nice and the kids had a blast. Little Reed even decided to take a few tastes of the sand lol
Sand castles were made, no fish were caught even tho we tried, snacks were eaten and little beach bums had so much fun. It really doesn't get to be a better morning then that!
Brian has been gone on a work trip the last few days (I miss him SO SO much!) Ive been trying to keep busy with the kids. On day 1 we went to Rylie Park. We haven't gone since I was pregnant with Bentley and Carter was just small. The weather wasn't hot by any means and the water was cold but the kids were so good and we had fun anyways.
We stopped at the park thats there before we headed back to the car and Im pretty certain Penny was giving every mother there a heart attack as she was being her normal crazy self swinging on the top of the slides. (*insert my eye roll here... it doesn't even phase me anymore)
And I cannot believe the end of the summer is nearing and we are getting ready to send Carter off to Grade 1 and Bentley to preschool. This summer has gone by SO FAST and Im not sure if I am excited or not for school to start but since its always a really busy time in my photography and I don't have a ton of time left or weekends so while Brian's been away, I decided to do my canning! My mom and I last weekend made 30 jars of crab apple Jelly and OH MY YUM! It is so clear and delicious! Im pretty certain this is the best batch we've ever made!
Then, while the kids have been in bed, I canned 14 jars of pickles , 12 jars of peaches and 6 jars of pears. I LOVE canning and I am forever grateful for Grandma Reed and my Mother-in-law for teaching me how to and inspiring me to do it every year! It really is THE BEST!
I cannot wait for Brian to get home super late tonight! Hurray!
