Is it Summer yet?
A couple of weeks ago we had the most beautiful weather! It felt like summer, and we took it upon ourselves to make it the very first beach day of the year!
The kids and I spent the entire day at the beach! First with friends and then ran home, got Carter from school, made a picnic and headed back to spend it with my sister-in-law and her family. It was so much fun!
The water is still FREEZING but it didn't seem to bug the kids too much which was nice!
The kids had so much fun and so did we! The picnic was fun too.. but full of sand it seemed like and Penny thought.. "hey why not pour an entire cup full of sand into the popcorn bag!" <- ya.. not so good. But it was fun nonetheless!

And seriously.. Reed could not be a happier baby! He is at such a fun age!

Then Carter and Bentley went to their buddy Logan's birthday party. It was a paint studio and sounds like it was a TON of fun.. leave it to my two boys to get completely COVERED!

And Im pretty certain when the lady said.. always point your paint DOWN... Carter thought he would give Bentley some "sweet" "Brotherly" "love" and shoot him with it right in the face...

That took a long bath and many many q-tips to get out!
And then last week.. my little Penny girl gave me quite the scare! **Nots: These pictures are a mock of what happened... I was so frantic and relieved that I never could have taken them in the actual moment. So heres what happened.
I took the kids to walmart early that morning to grab some supplies to make a poster with Carter for his "Student of the week" presentation. Walmart now requires coins to use a shopping cart and I only had my debit card .. SO 3 small kids, no stroller and no shopping cart.. sounds like so much fun right!?
The kids were being SO NAUGHTY in Walmart... running around like wild goats.. I was kinda in a hurry too because our 5 min walmart trip turned into a 25 minute Walmart trip with no Shopping cart or stroller. Anyways, when we got back to the car, I gave them all a lecture about how unsafe it is to run around .. what is someone took you? What if I could never find you.. or worse!? I was WAY too detailed of what exactly COULD happen.. but I wanted them to understand the reality of it. So, we get home and I pull the Van into the garage. I unload the boys and then Penny. Usually I just carry Penny straight into the house but that day, she was in a super cranky mood and wanted to walk into the house.. so I let her. I grabbed the grocery bags, shut the garage door and went in the house. When I got inside I looked at the boys and said " Where is Penny?" They both said they didn't know and didn't see her. I immediately start to panic. I toss the bags down and start walking around our main level calling her name.. no answer. I run upstairs.. call her name and still no answer. Now, I am completely panicking thinking she rushed out onto the driveway without me noticing and then thinking I shut the garage door while she was on the driveway. To top it off, we live on a main road so there are cars all the time! I ran into the dark garage and shouted her name, no answer. I opened up the large garage door and frantically started calling her name.. over and over again, running down the street thinking maybe she started walking one way or another.. the boys were panicking too since I had JUST told them in the Walmart parking lot all the awful scary things that could happen if someone took them or if they got lost. It was HORRIBLE! I was a mess and it had been about 5 minutes of not being about to find Penny. I called Brian (no clue what help that would do.. but I was just a frantic disaster!) the moment he said "hello" I BURST into tears trying to explain that I couldn't find Penny anywhere.. I was standing in the middle of the driveway when I turned around back towards our house and saw this...

Yes.. that is Penny.. just sitting in our bike trailer.. calmly just watching me have a nervous breakdown! WHAT A LITTLE STINKER!

What is crazy is that while I was rushing around the house screaming her name, she was happily sitting in the pitch black garage all alone... totally fine.. probably chuckling to herself that mom is going crazy.
Seriously Penny.. don't ever do that to me again! It still makes my heart pound when I think about it. Hopefully we can enjoy this gorgeous weather this week without loosing anyone!
