Penny's First week.
This week has been crazy! BUSY.. and pretty much non-stop. I have loved every second of it. The day after we got home from the hospital, we had the "glorious" (SO ANNOYING) appointment with the health nurse. Of course, Penny was a little Jaundice.. like her brothers were. She went from 7 lbs 15 oz at birth to 7 lbs 6 oz. We were advised to feed her every 2 hours in hopes to flush out the jaundice so away we went.. every two hours. I was super tired. We went back to the health nurse 24 hours later and she weighed 7 lbs 9 oz! She gained 3 oz overnight and was no longer jaundice! This was great news for us. The rest of the weekend was busy with visitors coming to meet little Penny and outings and we even had our friend Andrew take some family photos for us. I really wanted a family photo before it got freezing outside so Penny could be in our family photo hanging on the wall.

By the time Monday rolled around, I was excited to just stay home and completely try to relax.

Brian went back to work on Tuesday and it really was an okay day! I was able to do all of Penny's pictures in the morning and clean the house in the afternoon after dropping Carter off at preschool. The rest of the week has been good. Relaxing. And of course.. exhausting too.

Penny so far has been such a great baby! She can sleep though a tornado... literally, her brothers are the loudest kids on the face of the earth and she just sleeps right through it all. She LOVES to cuddle (which I am loving) and likes to "party" between the hours of 10pm and 4am. Good timing Penny.

On Thursday we had our baby doctor appointment for Penny. Dr Ward said she is doing great and has no concerns. We weighed her again and he was 8 lbs 7oz! WHAT THE HECK!! She's gained almost a pound in 5 days. SHE IS GROWING WAY TOO FAST!!

Dr. Ward said to start "feeding on demand" - which I was already doing... clearly I just make cream for this babe and she is growing like crazy. Bittersweet.

So far, Penny has been a GREAT little nurser with no problem... what a blessing!! Her brothers are really REALLY still loving her like crazy! The first couple of days were tricky... Bentley wasn't sure what to think... he liked her but was just REALLY all over me.. especially when I needed to feed her. Carter needed to learn that Penny belongs to our entire family... not just him. He was OBSESSING over her... to the point where only he would be "aloud" to touch her, hold her, kiss her.
But within a couple of days, the boys were back on their daily schedules and routines and everything started to calm down and now both of them are loving her the perfect amount. Bentley loves to cuddle her is constantly saying "nice baby" as he strokes her head and always has to know where she is at all times.
Carter is so lovely with her. Its the sweetest thing watching him. He will sing to her (as long as you don't watch him do it) when she is sad or fussing. He holds her all the time and is always commenting on how cute she is. This week, he was able to show her to his preschool teachers... he was so proud. The biggest smile on his face as he told his teachers how much he loved her and how cute she is.

This warms my heart.
I am so glad we are all settling in to being a family of 5. I know it will get trickier as Penny gets older and today was a tough day for me but the kids are asleep and I am taking all the quiet time I can get.
We also gave Penny her first bath. She did pretty good.. as long as she had her soother!

And oh how I love the smell of a freshly bathed babe. She truly is my little pretty Penny.
