Keeping Up.
I am excited for Brian. He seems to really love it. He works long hours right now but it will get better I think.. and we still have one car so the kids and I are "stranded" at home from 6am to 7pm every day. I mean, we could totally hop on the bus and go somewhere but for the first week and a half of completely staying at home, Ive actually really enjoyed it. Its nice not to have the "distractions" of grocery shopping or running errands, and Im really (for now) loving just being here with my boys... and finding the creative mama bear side of me! Just yesterday, the boys and I made our own version of "living sand". It was AMAZING! Carter played with it for nearly an hour!!
And its a great sensory activity.. Bonus! It's honestly really fun.. almost therapeutic! All I did was mix 4 cups of flour and 1/2 a cup of baby oil... mix it really good and there you go! Ive just stored it in a large ziplock bag and it stays fresh! You can mould it..
and squish it...
and its sure to keep those busy kids happy!!
Last week, the boys and I went out (when the snow was first melting and made our first snowman! Carter was in HEAVEN! He named him "Carter" naturally lol and was so impressed by his snowman skills. PURE.JOY!
We also cleaned out all our storage bins, and basement..froze toys in a tupperware of water and watched them as them melt on the table all day or (Carter's favourite) put them in the sink and play with the warm water as it melts your toy out of the ice block... we've made four loafs of banana bread, cookies, apple chips and an unbeatable amount of home popped popcorn for snacks. Its been great week at home with my little guys!
Church lately though has been a total stress to say the least. You remember my post about how Carter did GREAT in Primary.... yah.. that was the only week.. we have been dealing with him literally running OUT of the building away from Primary... balling, screaming.. crying.. saying he's scared.. people staring... its been crazy. Im at a loss.. please tell me Im not the only one dealing with a tricky kid making the transition into Primary. I just wish I knew how to help him. Last Sunday, I didn't make him go.. I couldn't... I wasn't about to be-little or embarrass him and make him cry the entire time in from of everyone. We've tried the reward system and discipline.. consequences and prizes.. but nothing seems to be working. I think Ill just take a step back and maybe try to make him think like Primary is his idea. (WHY IS THIS SO HARD!?)
Bentley is just about to go into Nursery in 3 months and I'm dreading it (crazy right.. most parents look forward to it!).. what if he is like his big brother and has a hard time for the next year and a half.. ohhh boy.. I think we have our work cut out for us.
Carter's little imagination and personality is running wild these days. He is growing and learning like no ones business. A smart little cookie I might add and an incredible and strong personality! He can talk your ear off and make up stories as he plays with nearly nothing. He has THE BEST imagination.. I am in love with it!
Bentley is also getting quite the personality these days.. he still cuddles me.. but every once in a while he can throw a great tantrum.. kick, scream, flex his back... its really quite remarkable lol He has learned to say please "pesh" and thank you "tea-tah" .. but will only say them if you ask him to... he makes the cutest "shhhhhhhh" that you've ever seen! He puts his little pointer finger over his lips and says "shhhhh" with kind of a lisp.. its adorable! lol he can blow kisses and say bye bye or hi to you. He's at a really fun stage!
Bentley is getting more active too which is nice so he can kind of keep up with his big brother! Yesterday, we went outside (runny noses and all) and painted the snow .. again. This time I used mason jars full of warm water and food colouring!
The boys LOVED it! I made only a small amount of the blue for Bentley so he would be strong enough to hold it. Carter got right to work making his masterpiece.
Bentley painted a little bit but was much more happy to just walk around and explore.
Its been a great week at home. This week, I am working on putting both boys on a STRICT schedule! Bed at 7:30.. NO LATER.. up at 7:30 .. NO LATER .. nap at 10:30 and 2:30 (only Bentley gets the pleasure of having two naps still).. all in hopes that this strict schedule will MAYBE help Carter at church.. its worth a shot right!
I am so thankful to be a Stay at home mom. I am so lucky to have a husband who supports it 150 percent and I appreciate it more then anyone will ever know!
