Relief!

After having a tantrum'ing three year old for far too long I decided things needed to change! Why was he being so grumpy? Nothing in his little world has recently changed except for about a month ago we took away his naps completely because he was having a hard time falling asleep at night time.. then it totally clicked... NO MORE NAP! Thats it! He's totally exhausted! No wonder he's been insane! So yesterday, that changed. I put Carter down for a nap at 11am .. I also put the lock back on his door.. more as a threat then anything else.. Id like to keep his door open so he could just come and tell me if he has to go potty but the new rule is .. if he gets out of his bed... even once.. we lock the door. It worked! He napped yesterday from 11am-12:30. Short and sweet and it was even so peaceful for me to have that time to just relax for a bit. I felt rejuvenated and when Carter woke up he felt so much better too! The rest of the day was peaceful! I didn't need to turn the tv on at all... for the past little while its felt like the tv has been on WAY TO MUCH because he was so grumpy and dysfunctional that I would do anything for the distraction. It was such a nice quiet day.. ZERO tantrums... and getting him to bed really wasn't that bad because we were stern and told him we would lock the door if he got out of bed... so he stayed in his bed and went to sleep. What a relief! This morning has been much the same. In fact, yesterday was such a great day that while the boys were napped I went and found some left over mini water balloons I had in storage and filled them up with water and hid them in the bathtub! When the boys went to have their bed time bath last night.. they saw them and we so excited about it!



Bentley took his one little ballon and totally protected it lol He is IN LOVE with balloons so this was like a bath paradise for him!



Although the whole situation (at first) totally made him stressed out .. worried for his one ballon hahaha



But Carter LOVED it even more because Bentley was only concerned about his one balloon.. Carter lucked out and played with all the rest!



Bentley eventually was excited and calmed down about his balloon... until it was time to get out of the tub of course.



Both boys went to bed last night at 7:45ish. Carter woke up at 7 this morning and Bentley woke up at 8:30.. they both were refreshed and acting lovely. Playing together.. running around.. its been great! I decided to do another little christmas craft with them.. since now I feel like I can because they are not total grumpy disasters! So we made out own nativity set! First we coloured it (we got the sheet from the nativity display thing we went to over the weekend).





Once we had them all coloured.. we cut them out and you were really supposed to fold them in half to make them stand up but I decided to stick a little magnet on each of the little figures so that my kids could play with them on the fridge.. it works out much better that way for us! Before putting them on the fidge.. I read the little nativity story to them.



And as I read it..Carter would pick out the characters and put them on the fridge!





His favourite is Baby Jesus... he loves babies so its no surprise.





I love how it turned out.. CUTE! And such a perfect little craft and activity for this time of year! It is so much fun to be a mother when your toddler isn't freaking out every 30 seconds! lol Carter has been asking and asking me to make some cookies with him for the past day so I think we will do that this afternoon once he wakes up from his nap... its so nice to have my mostly happy little guy back! What a Relief!
