This past year has been amazing. We have had some really incredible moments in the past year. Seeing how much Carter loves Bentley is one of those incredible moments. It melts my heart and warms my soul. But also reminiscing about Bentley's bump that was on his head at 5 months old, it gave us quite the scare.
Before we had Bentley I remember saying.. how will it even be possible to love another child of mine the way I am in love with Carter. But immediately after holding Bentley for the first time and soothing him as he let out his first cry I fell in love with him.
Bentley has the bluest eyes that I love so much. the cutest little toes and long skinny fingers! He currently says three words which are "Mama", "Dada", and his favourite "Uh Oh".
He has 10 teeth already.. and working in cracking the 11th! And Bentley LOVES to point at the things he wants. Like seriously.. he looks like ET lol
Yesterday, Bentley took 3 steps all by himself to me and today he took 3 steps by himself to Brian and also stood in the middle of the living room all by himself for probably 20 seconds! He will be walking in no time!
Poor Bentley has been suffering with the worst Eczema all over his entire torso, but we saw the doctor two days ago and he was given some cream for it.. in the last two days it has gotten so much better and it doesn't seem to be bothering him as much.. thank goodness!
And for his updated stats... my favourite Part! Bentley currently weights 20 pounds 4 ounces, is 30 inches tall and has a head circumference of 17 inches! So in other words.. he's perfect! lol
Having a halloween baby has been busy and fun for us today! We started the day off with this little munchkin sleeping in! (I think Ill take note and sleep in on my birthday!)
After breakfast, the three of us (Daddy was working) headed over to Tommy K Play for some fun!
It was a blast but tricky too.. Carter is SO FAST and trying to keep up with him as I crouch down through all the tunnels with Bentley on my hip is a little tricky.. at least I got a good workout! Carter was hilarious. I would be way slower then him.. obviously.. and when he would get far away, he would stop in the tunnels and YELL "MOM!!!" "MOM!!!" and then proceed to Whistle at me which sounds like him saying "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" at the top of his lungs... calling me like a dog.. thanks buddy lol I couldn't help but laugh the whole time. Bentley LOVED it there SO MUCH! The entire time he was laughing and smiling.. and when we could catch up to Carter he would shreek with excitement lol What fun boys we have!
We headed home around 11:30. Just in time for a "spooky" lunch! On the menu.. Grilled Cheese Sandwiches shaped like bats, cheese noodles and tomatoes! Both boys were in heaven!
Then the kids went down for a nap.. at the same time.. YAY! I got some cleaning done, presents wrapped and dinner organized! We spent the afternoon playing trains and reading books until it was time to pick up Brian from work (our favourite time of the day for sure!) We quickly came home and started dinner while Bentley (ok, mostly Carter) opened presents.
No Need to judge the wrapping job.. It was done with NO tape.. I couldn't find ANY! For Bentley's Birthday we bought him the old school Fisher Price Clock and Telephone! The Clock was from Carter to Bentley and he loved it!
Bentley also loved the phone.. but Carter was IN LOVE with the phone too... so taking turns was a little challenging but it all worked out.
Next was our "spooktacular" birthday dinner!
I made Mummy HotDogs for the kids (Bri and I just had regular hotdogs lol) and veggies!
followed by spider cupcakes!
After everything was said and done, we headed out Trick-or-treaing. Carter caught on quickly with running up to the door.. screaming "Trick-or-Treat" getting the candy in his bag.. saying Thank you and then saying "ONE MORE HOUSE!" before the people even shut the door. lol He had it down to a science. Bentley was just happy that people would say hi to him.. giving everyone Birthday smiles as we went from house to house!
We got home, brushed teeth, jammies, stories, prayers and then tucked Carter into bed and I took the opportunity to cuddle my little baby to sleep.. just like I had done exactly a year ago today.
Listening to his soft breaths, feeling his warm skin and his hand tightly holding mine. I wish I could hit record and save that feeling for a hard day. I am so lucky to have two beautiful children. I am so lucky to be your mommy Bentley. You truly are such a joy in our family. And as you sleep tight, I will be thanking our heavenly father for such an incredible blessing. You.
